Detran reinforces educational actions with pilgrims of Círio
Agents occupy strategic points to guide pilgrims

The capital of Pará is already filled with pilgrims arriving in the city from all corners of Pará and even from other states. To reinforce road safety and ensure a Círio without traffic accidents, the State Department of Transit (Detran) promotes a series of educational actions to guide the population.
The education agents concentrate at strategic points with the highest concentration of pilgrims, such as bus and boat terminals, the airport, squares, and on BR-316. This Friday (9), the teams continued their actions at kilometer six of BR-316, during the transfer of the image of Our Lady of Nazareth to Ananindeua.

Focusing on the pilgrims walking along the highway to the Basilica Sanctuary, the agents approached those passing by, welcoming them and explaining how to transit safely. "We are explaining how they can complete their walk without taking risks, exclusively using the sidewalks, without accessing the main lanes of the highway and respecting the signage. We are also welcoming them by distributing eco-bags, the 'lixocar', so that they have this environmental awareness upon arriving for the Círio," explains the education coordinator, Celina Koury.

João Batista left Castanhal accompanied by 18 people. Even with the exhaustion of the walk, he was determined to complete the journey to the Basilica. "This is a very special moment of faith with God and Mary, and I believe we are safe on this journey, with well-marked signs that guide us properly. Since leaving Castanhal, this safety has been well implemented," he emphasized.
This year, 24 signage boards indicating the route for pilgrims were installed by Detran along the Alça Viária and BR-316 highways, to alert drivers about the presence of pilgrims. Sisters Alice and Cleide Miranda left Santo Antônio do Tauá to fulfill a promise and thank for the health of their family members. For them, the existence of the signs and the presence of traffic agents since leaving the city help ensure safety along the highway. "There are times when we are just on the highway, and this presence of agents along with the signage gives us this protection and guides us to walk safely, without the risk of accidents," they commented.
