New Icoaraci Waterway Terminal Begins Operations with Permanent Presence of Artran
Modern space boosts tourism and river mobility, with continuous oversight and citizen service

The Government of Pará began operations of the new Icoaraci Tourist Waterway Terminal in Belém on Thursday (9), with the permanent presence of the Public Transport Regulation and Control Agency (Artran). The modern structure replaces the old pier of the district and represents a milestone in the requalification of river transport in the Metropolitan Region of the capital.
Artran will operate continuously at the terminal, ensuring systematic oversight of intermunicipal lines and direct service to the population. A fixed office of the Agency has been installed on-site, offering services for complaints, guidance, and the registration of reports and suggestions.

“Artran will be permanently present, ensuring a safer, more organized, and quality service. This is an achievement for the population and an important step towards modernizing river mobility in the state,” emphasized Artran's General Director, Luciano Dias.
New Phase for River Transport
Delivered on Wednesday (8) by the Government of Pará, through the Ports and Waterways Company (CPH), the new terminal began its first boarding and disembarking already on the morning shift of Thursday. Passengers from the communities of Cachoeira do Arari, in the Marajó archipelago, were the first to use the structure.

The crew member Cleiton Avelar praised the improvements in access to the vessels. “This new terminal has helped a lot when docking the boats. Before, we had to wait for another to leave in order to dock, and now it has become much easier.”

The operator Raimundo Almeida, owner of a river line, also highlighted the advancements. “Our vessel was the first to arrive here. The Artran inspectors provided us with important information that will benefit both the boat operators and the population. I thank God and the governor for providing us with this moment and this quality space.”
Comfort, Accessibility, and Oversight
The continuous presence of Artran controllers ensures compliance with transport regulations, oversight of vessels, observation of schedules, and respect for the right to free passage for users.

“The structure of the new terminal will allow for more organized boarding, with ticket sales counters, spacious and ventilated waiting areas. The population will feel the difference in service and safety,” evaluated Waldemar Frazão, coordinator of water transport at Artran.
The transport controller Weliton Paiva also emphasized the benefits for workers and passengers. “We have already noticed this on the first day, with everything going smoothly, without the difficulties of the old pier.”
Intermunicipal Lines Operating at the Terminal
The regulated river routes by the State that will operate at the Icoaraci Waterway Terminal are:

Modern Structure to Boost Tourism and Development
With 650 m² of built area, the terminal was designed to offer comfort, accessibility, and safety to users, in addition to promoting tourism and integration with riverside and island communities in the Metropolitan Region.
The space includes:

- Exhibition area
- In the naval part, there are 350 m² of infrastructure, with:
- Covered walkway

The investment of R$ 7.9 million is part of the strategic works of the Government of Pará for the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), which will be held in November 2025, in Belém. The delivery of the terminal reaffirms the State's commitment to modernizing river mobility, enhancing tourism, and promoting sustainable development in Greater Belém.
