The inspection seal on animal and plant products ensures good manufacturing practices, traceability, and food safety. The Government of Pará, through the
State Agency for Agricultural Defense of Pará (Adepará), warns consumers about the precautions they should take when purchasing products for the traditional Círio lunch.

All animal and plant products must comply with hygienic-sanitary regulations before being marketed. The agronomist responsible for the Plant Inspection Management, Joselena Tavares, advises consumers.

“Food safety starts with inspection. The seal guarantees that the food was produced under good manufacturing practices, with sanitary control, standardized labeling, and traceability, ensuring that these establishments carry out their activities in compliance with current hygienic-sanitary regulations, promoting food safety and enabling the inclusion of these products in the formal market,” she comments.

Safe product is inspected product

To ensure that a product was manufactured in a registered establishment and under good hygiene conditions, consumers can check the inspection seals printed on the packaging label:

-Municipal Inspection Service (SIM)
-State Inspection Service (SIE)
- Artisan Product
-Federal Inspection Service (SIF)
-Brazilian Inspection System (Sisbi-POA)

The Agency recommends that consumers check the label for all the conditions being offered, such as: who manufactured it, date of manufacture, expiration date, batch, nutritional information to ensure they are consuming a safe product inspected by official bodies.

“In our stores, consumers will already find products certified by the competent authorities, such as tucupi, shrimp, fish, among others. We work with orders for these products to be sent outside the State, so it is important to have certified products, it is an extra safety for those who buy,” says merchant Gabriel Oliveira.

Certification – The regularization of artisanal agro-industries is a policy developed by Adepará, which promotes family farming and small producers. However, it is necessary to register artisanal production, which can be from both individuals and legal entities.

With registration, the producer can market throughout the State. To obtain the Artisan Seal, the establishment must follow good manufacturing practices. To regularize, the producer should seek a unit of Adepará in their municipality or the Plant Inspection and Classification Management (GICV). It is necessary to present personal documents to the GICV and submit a request for the company registration. The documents are: ID, proof of residence, and CPF.
