Cultural Foundation of Pará opens free registrations for workshop on preservation and conservation of rare collections

The course takes place from October 13 to 24, from 8 AM to 12 PM, at the Arthur Viana Library, located on the 3rd floor of the FCP. There are 20 spots available for individuals aged 16 and over, and registrations remain open until October 10.

The Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP) opens free registrations for a workshop on the preservation and conservation of rare books that belong to the collection of the Casa da Linguagem. The course takes place from October 13 to 24, from 8 AM to 12 PM, at the Arthur Viana Library, located on the 3rd floor of the FCP. There are 20 spots available for individuals aged 16 and over, and registrations remain open until October 10 through this link.

The course aims to contribute to the conservation and preservation of bibliographic materials from the collection of the Francisco Paulo Mendes Library, located at the Casa da Linguagem. During the workshop, students will learn techniques for disbinding, cleaning, and restoration. It is an opportunity to contribute to the promotion of culture and awareness of the transformative role in preserving the cultural heritage of the Amazon.

According to the technical processes coordinator of the FCP, Simone Moreira, it is important to give people the opportunity to access the library's collection. "The community will handle important documents that are part of the collection of the Arthur Vianna Public Library. The workshop will work with bibliographic material that is part of the collection of Prof. Maria Lúcia Medeiros (researcher, writer, and teacher), a collection that belongs to the Casa da Linguagem. In addition to helping us keep the material cleaned and well repaired, at the end of the workshop, these books will be ready to go to the shelves of the Francisco Paulo Mendes Library and available for researchers," she said.
