Users and companions of the Metropolitan Hospital participate in a T-shirt customization workshop for Círio
For the health unit team, the moment provided a reduction in stress and anxiety for patients and families

The week started off light, with a more relaxed and pleasant environment for patients and companions at the Metropolitan Emergency and Urgency Hospital (HMUE) in Ananindeua. They had the opportunity to participate in the "T-Shirt Customization" workshop on Monday (6), in reference to the Círio de Nossa Senhora de Nazaré, which takes place this Sunday (12).
The production of decorations on the Círio T-shirts, made by hand, is a form of expression and creativity, allowing patients and families to feel more connected and fulfilled. Additionally, the activity helped create a sense of purpose and meaning during the hospitalization period in the Burn Center of the hospital unit. Patient Josinete Santos, 45, from Novo Repartimento, about 500 km from the state capital, has been hospitalized for a month, receiving treatment for burns caused by a domestic accident.

The user praised the humanized initiative. "Long-term hospitalization ends up causing stress, you know? But coming here, feeling this breeze, this sun, was like having a moment to breathe better and organize my thoughts, alongside Nossa Senhora. There is no greater joy than this. There is no money in the world that can pay for the lightness we feel inside. The team is wonderful; may they always continue like this, with this good heart full of love. I loved participating in this action!" she stated.
The user's statement reflects the goal of the action, organized by the Humanization Working Group (GTH). For Samanta Meirim, an occupational therapist who coordinated the T-shirt customization activities that the participants kept, the moment provided a reduction in stress and anxiety for patients and families.

"The goal was to promote more humanized care, especially for patients who have been hospitalized for a long time. They have the cultural habit, during this time of Círio, to participate intensely in this festivity. But due to hospitalization, they will not participate. So, the action was designed to alleviate this pain," the professional noted.
The occupational therapist explains that the hospitalized users worked on their affective memory components related to the Círio de Nazaré, which connects family and friends. "The activity brought a recovery of faith, culture, and our people. The choice of the theme 'Círio de Nossa Senhora de Nazaré' helped create a sense of community and belonging among the participants," she added.
Samanta Meirim also emphasized that interaction among patients, families, and the multiprofessional team is essential, creating a more welcoming and humanized environment in the hospital setting.

Structure – As a reference in the treatment of medium and high complexity, in trauma and burns, through the Unified Health System (SUS), HMUE has operational beds in the specialties of traumatology, general surgery, neurosurgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, plastic surgery (exclusive for burn victims), and ICU beds.
In 2024 alone, more than 600,000 services, including hospitalizations, surgeries, laboratory and imaging exams, multiprofessional care, and outpatient consultations, were offered to patients from the Metropolitan Region and different municipalities in Pará.
