The Companhia de Saneamento do Pará (Cosanpa) will distribute 45 thousand cups of water during the Círio de Nazaré 2025, in yet another action that reinforces the commitment of the government of Pará to the well-being and health of the pilgrims. Since 2019, the Company has produced and donated 145 thousand cups of Água Bolonha, ensuring access to safe and quality drinking water for the pilgrims.

Production began in early September at the Bolonha Treatment Station in Belém, where the purification and bottling of Água Bolonha takes place. To meet this year's goal, detailed planning and the joint effort of the teams involved were necessary. In total, 938 boxes were prepared for donation.

The operation is coordinated by the Logistics Management Directorate, which organizes the transportation and distribution of water to Cosanpa's support points during the Círio. Donations will be made at the Romaria Rodoviária on Friday (10) and at the main procession on Sunday (12). Part of the volumes will also be allocated to the Red Cross, the Archdiocese of the Parish of Santa Cruz, the city hall of Belém, and state government agencies that assist the pilgrims.

The Company's commitment to the Círio has already become a tradition. Since 2019, Cosanpa employees have participated directly in the action, not only in production but also in delivering water to the pilgrims during the processions.

“This is a tradition that makes us very proud. Since 2019, our employees have actively participated in the action, not only producing but also delivering water to the pilgrims. It is a gesture that unites faith, solidarity, and the commitment of the government of Pará to the well-being of the population,” highlighted Col. Dilson Júnior, president of Cosanpa.

Quality and control

The water destined for the Círio undergoes a rigorous quality control process. The process begins with daily analysis at the Water Treatment Station, where all physical-chemical and microbiological parameters are checked. Only after confirming compliance is bottling initiated, which occurs in five stages: sanitization, distribution, sealing, capping, and marking the expiration date.

According to sanitary and environmental engineer Arthur Arrais, who manages the Control and Quality Sector of Cosanpa, samples are sent to the Central Laboratory for further analysis before the product is released.

“After the bottling is completed, we consolidate the report of the samples and, upon confirming full compliance, we release the batch for donation and to meet the demands of the Company and other public agencies,” explained the engineer.

Throughout the year, the production of Água Bolonha is used in solidarity actions, hospitals, events, and state government agencies. However, during the Círio period, the work takes on a special meaning for the employees who participate in this chain of faith and service.

Márcio Queiroz is the Cosanpa employee responsible for bottling

“I am a devotee of Our Lady of Nazaré, and for me, it is very satisfying, it is very rewarding to be part of this process knowing that many people will drink this water that I helped produce,” highlighted Márcio Queiroz, the Cosanpa employee responsible for bottling.
