Civil Police arrests man in Redenção for environmental crimes
The arrested individual is being investigated for deforesting more than 7,500 hectares of an Environmental Protection Area located in the municipality of Altamira, in western Pará.
The Civil Police of Pará, through the Amazon Secure Task Force, and with the operational support of the Investigation Support Center (NAI) in Redenção, in the southern part of the state, executed a preventive arrest warrant on the afternoon of this Monday (6) against a man for the crimes of damage to the conservation unit, fire in forest or woods, and deforestation on public or unclaimed lands. The police action took place during the "Guardians of the Forest" Operation, launched in Redenção.

The warrant, issued by the 2nd Court of the Guarantee Judge of the Interior Districts, was requested by the police authority during investigations into large-scale criminal fires. "The crime committed by the investigated individual resulted in the deforestation of approximately 7,867.630 hectares of native vegetation between July and August 2025, within the Triunfo do Xingu Environmental Protection Area (APA), located in the municipality of Altamira. After the court order, we were able to locate and arrest the man in compliance with the warrant," explained delegate Iuri Castro, director of the Amazon Secure Task Force.

Integration - The Amazon Secure Task Force is a specialized unit focused on investigating high-complexity and high-impact environmental crimes, working in an integrated manner with other security and oversight agencies to combat the illegal devastation of the Amazon rainforest.
"Our investigations revealed that the fires were intentionally and coordinatedly provoked, aiming to deforest the protected area for subsequent cattle ranching, with the insertion of cattle in an environmentally sensitive area legally designated for forest recovery," added the delegate.
After the arrest, the man was taken to the Redenção Police Station, where the appropriate legal procedures were adopted, and he is now at the disposal of the Judiciary.
