FCP receives online registrations for 3D Animation and Digital Illustration workshops at the Maker Lab
Registrations are open until October 10; selection for the animation module requires portfolio analysis

The Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP), through the Curro Velho Workshop Center (NOCV), in partnership with the State Secretariat for Science, Technology, Higher, Professional and Technological Education of Pará (Sectet), offers a program of workshops at the Maker Lab in Curro Velho and Casa da Linguagem during the month of October. Registrations for the courses, which include the themes "Pre-Production of a 3D Animation Short" and "Digital Illustration for Motion Comics", are open and can be made online until October 10.
One of the highlights of the program is the workshop on "Pre-Production of a 3D Animation Short", which will be taught by instructor André Guerra. The total workload is 20 hours, scheduled to take place at the Curro Velho Workshop Center, in the Telégrafo neighborhood. The central proposal of the activity is to introduce the pre-production processes necessary for creating 3D animation short films.
The syllabus includes an introduction to digital animation and the production pipeline (stages), idea development, script and character creation, as well as storyboard and animatic. 3D modeling of characters and environments is also part of the curriculum structure.

Participation in this course requires a portfolio selection, and interested parties must attach a link at the end of the registration form that showcases works such as drawings, illustrations, scripts, comics, or videos. The results of the selection will be announced via the registered email by 6 PM on the 10th. Classes for the first module are scheduled to occur over two weeks, with the first from the 14th to the 17th of this month and the second from the 20th to the 24th of the same period.
After the conclusion of the first module, FCP will open registrations for the second module, focused on "Production of a 3D Animation Short", which will take place from October 27 to November 7. In this second stage, the work will involve rigging, animation, lighting, and rendering, with the goal of developing a collective 3D animation short. Preference for registration in this module will be given to participants from the first stage.
The October schedule also includes the "Digital Illustration for Motion Comics" workshop, taught by Eliezer França, which will take place at the Maker Lab of Casa da Linguagem, between the 14th and 24th of this month.

Andrei Miralha, Coordinator of Workshops at NOCV, explains: “We are now going to work with the end-of-year programming, since starting in November, the spaces of Curro Velho and Casa da Linguagem will be ceded for COP30. Within our Maker Lab, here at Curro Velho, we will conduct a 3D Animation workshop focused on producing a short film, using Blender, which is a free animation software of recognized quality — indeed, a film produced with Blender won an Oscar this year - the animation Flow. The work is divided into two modules of 20 hours: one for pre-production, where we will discuss the story, storyboard, and character construction, and the second focused on the production of the animation, under the instruction of André Guerra.”

FCP informs that online registration is free and represents an opportunity for improvement and preparation for entering the job market and generating income. Thus, interested parties are requested to register only if they are certain of their participation, committing not to occupy the spot of another candidate. Registrations for all workshops remain open until October 10 and must be made at this link.
About the Maker Labs - Established by Sectet, they are technological training spaces that promote the Maker Culture or the philosophy of "Do it yourself". These labs, such as those in the Amazon Maker project in partnership with the Cultural Foundation of Pará, offer practical courses in Programming and Robotics, 3D Modeling and Printing, and Computer Science, aiming to stimulate creation, critical thinking, and hands-on learning. They aim to prepare young people and adults, including students from Technical Schools (Eetepas), with advanced technology skills to adapt to the new demands of the job market, in Pará and worldwide.
The initiatives are promoted by the government of the State of Pará and demonstrate the role of the Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP) as the main state body responsible for executing public cultural policies in Pará, promoting training and access to digital tools in the field of cultural production.
