Students from Itaituba discuss society and citizenship during citizenship and drug prevention action

The State Department of Justice (Seju) promoted, last Friday (3), citizenship and drug prevention actions in state schools of Itaituba, in the Tapajós Integration Region. The main objective was to provide information to foster reflection among students, addressing crucial themes for youth health and education.

At the Benedito Corrêa de Souza School, the action was carried out through the Youth Citizenship project, with a lecture for about 120 students divided into three classes of the last year of high school, preparing students for a more critical and participatory role in society.

Andreia Siqueira, social worker at Seju, explains the importance of youth as social protagonists to young people in Itaituba

Andreia Siqueira, a social worker at Seju, explains that the project aims to stimulate collective protagonism and social impact. "The idea is to strengthen citizenship through public policies, such as civil documentation and social programs, associating citizenship with environmental issues and responsibility for the planet."

Teacher Odoênia Lima reinforced the dialogue about the role of youth in society. “We understand the need to talk about changing the future, but also how the student can promote their protagonism, what they can leave for the planet and for their life as a citizen,” also highlighting the importance of social sensitivity and collective awareness among students.

Students are encouraged through active listening to think about a life project to avoid the influence of drug use

Dialogue - At the Professor Maria do Socorro Jacob School, the action was conducted by the Coordination of Prevention, Treatment, and Reduction of Drug Use (Cenpren), linked to Seju, and aimed to prevent drug use through active listening, providing a safe space for dialogue about the risks of these substances.

Student Lorrana Karen highlighted the importance of understanding each person's context to avoid the influence of chemical substance consumption. "Often drugs seem like a good way to relieve what bothers, but we can make a difference by helping those who need support; sometimes all it takes is a hug or a word of reflection."
