Sedeme and Codec discuss Pará's potential in bioenergy and ethanol
Government, productive sector, and specialists gathered in Belém at an event promoted by Fiepa, Bioenergia Brasil, and Sindicanálcool
The Government of Pará participated in the debate on the role of ethanol and bioenergy in the energy transition during the meeting "Ethanol: Brazilian Global Energy Leadership," held this Friday (3) in Belém. The event, promoted by the Federation of Industries of Pará (Fiepa), in partnership with Bioenergia Brasil and Sindicanálcool Bioenergia, brought together authorities, specialists, and representatives of the productive sector to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the State in light of the global clean energy agenda.
Representing the Government, the Secretary of State for Economic Development, Mining and Energy, Paulo Bengtson, emphasized that the Amazon needs to be seen far beyond stereotypes. According to him, although there are still those who associate the region only with fauna, flora, and rivers, there are 29 million inhabitants living in the Amazon who need opportunities to thrive. "It is essential that companies generate jobs in the forest," said the head of Sedeme.

Promising scenario - Paulo Bengtson highlighted that Pará has established itself as a favorable environment for attracting businesses. In agribusiness, for example, the State has made significant progress in the last two decades. In the field of bioenergy, Pacrisa is a pioneer in the production of sugarcane ethanol, and new companies are prospecting areas for the implementation of industrial plants. He also noted that Pará is already the largest producer of palm oil in Brazil, with operating plants. For the secretary, these factors show that the State is well positioned when it comes to renewable energy and transition fuels.

"Discussing this topic at this moment is extremely timely," added Paulo Bengtson, stressing that the international climate and sustainable development agenda brings even more visibility to the initiatives underway in the State.
The Economic Development Company of Pará (Codec) also participated in the program, with President Lutfala Bitar; the Director of Institutional Relations, Pádua Rodrigues; the Technical Director Ruy A. Klautau; the Manager of New Business, Sabrina Sena, and Environmental Engineer Amanda Ferreira.
Potential - Lutfala Bitar highlighted the role of the Company in attracting investments and promoting sustainable development. "The Amazon occupies two-thirds of the national territory but accounts for only 9% of GDP (Gross Domestic Product), according to IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics). Our mission at Codec is to transform this scenario by attracting industries, verticalizing production, and converting our potential into wealth for the population. We work to change this reality, generate jobs, and ensure that development is an opportunity for all Pará residents," said the president of Codec.
According to Director Pádua Rodrigues, participation in these meetings is strategic for aligning guidelines and preparing the State for new investments in clean energy. Ruy Klautau and Amanda Ferreira emphasized how innovations in bioenergy can directly engage with the planning of industrial districts in Pará.

Manager Sabrina Sena assessed that events of this nature expand business connections and strengthen the prospecting of new businesses, essential for the energy diversification of the State.
The opening act of the meeting also featured national leaders from the productive sector and industrial federations, such as the president of Fiepa, Alex Carvalho; federal deputy Arnaldo Jardim, and the director of the Department of Biofuels of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Marlon Arraes.
With initiatives aimed at bioenergy and attracting investments, the Government of Pará consolidates a development trajectory that prepares the State for a more sustainable, competitive future aligned with major international discussions on energy transition.
