Event held in Macapá, the capital of Amapá, is part of a regional mobilization to strengthen the environmental agenda in the Northern Region
The Institute of Forest Development and Biodiversity of Pará (Ideflor-Bio), through the Directorate of Management and Monitoring of Conservation Units (DGMUC), participated in the 1st Meeting of the Interinstitutional Commissions for Environmental Education of the Amazon (CiEA) - Northern Region, in Macapá (AP). The program is part of a regional mobilization to strengthen the environmental agenda among communities and agencies in the Northern Region, in preparation for the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), in November this year, in Belém.
According to the environmental analyst and Ideflor-Bio representative at the event, Sineide Vasconcelos, the activity allowed for the exchange of knowledge among agencies and civil society entities. “This action strengthens the exchange among environmental institutions in the Northern Region of Brazil, and allowed for the sharing of experiences and the strengthening of the Brazilian Network of Environmental Education (Rebea), as well as the strengthening of the Pará Network of Environmental Education (REDEPAEA) in Pará,” she emphasized.

At the event, held by the Government of Amapá, the agencies representing the CiEA of Pará were Ideflor-Bio, the State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas), and the State Secretariat for Education (Seduc), in addition to the Emaús Republic Movement.
Integration - Sineide Vasconcelos also highlighted, during the event, the importance of the 29 state conservation units, which are managed by Ideflor-Bio, and commented that the action will further strengthen the CiEA. “This event allowed, through the exchange of actions, the strengthening of the interinstitutional network, with more integration for Environmental Education, focusing on COP 30,” concluded the analyst.

For the Director of Management and Monitoring of Conservation Units, Ellivelton Carvalho, “the participation of Ideflor-Bio in this meeting is strategic for us to expand dialogue and cooperation among the Amazon states in the field of environmental education. We are preparing for COP30 with the conviction that the exchange of experiences strengthens not only the institutions but also the protagonism of local populations in building sustainable solutions for the region. Strengthening the CiEA is strengthening the participatory and integrated management of our Conservation Units,” said the manager.
