Santa Casa Foundation and Seduc Celebrate Children's Day in Hospital Class
Recreational activities involved pediatric patients
The Santa Casa Foundation anticipated the celebration of Children's Day on this Friday (3), a date always celebrated on October 12. The hospital promoted a recreational moment, involving pediatric patients. The girls and boys received gifts and had fun.
Zadiel Araújo, a public servant from Igarapé Miri, northeastern Pará, accompanies his son Marcus Vicent, seven years old, who is recovering from an esophageal surgery after suffering a domestic accident. “Actions like this are extremely important because the hospital has a confinement characteristic, and these dynamics, especially the playful dynamics, have significant importance in the child's life,” said Zadiel.
“A large part of a child's life is lived in play, even when they are at home or at school, so bringing and providing children with this type of welcome is important for relaxation and for the child's joy,” added Marcus Vicente's father.
Sirlene Melo, a psychopedagogue and coordinator of the Hospital Class of Seduc at Santa Casa, emphasizes that education and health are the two greatest pillars of a human being's life. “And the work of the hospital class is a work full of challenges because this education professional, who is assigned by Seduc, comes to do this work within the bed, inside the hospital. Our students are literate according to their grade level. And there is a result at the end of the year as if they were a student who was in school.”
“This activity today is a tribute for Children's Day. Within our programming throughout the year, we have several programs. And this one for Children's Day, we anticipated due to the atypical calendar because of COP30, and on December 12 we will also have our Christmas, which is a beautiful party. This Christmas and Children's Day will go down in history,” stated Sirlene.
Recognition - The technical and assistance director of the Santa Casa Foundation of Pará, Norma Assunção, notes that the work of the hospital class is fundamental. “It is the child's right to education and health. And within the hospital institution, you ensure the continuity of education for this child, as well as motivate, taking a little bit away from the reality of suffering, right? And it facilitates coexistence among them, so this certainly brings a different air, a different perspective for this child during that difficult moment they are going through while hospitalized in the institution.”
“The follow-up of education in the hospital works in various areas. Really facilitating the learning of children. So it is important that the institution has this perspective on education, and this cooperation agreement between Seduc and Santa Casa is fundamental to ensure this,” said the director.
Rosilene Gonçalves, a pedagogue from the Teaching Coordination of the Santa Casa Foundation, reports that the partnership between Seduc and Santa Casa is extremely important. “Through this partnership, it is possible to guarantee formal educational support for our children who are hospitalized. The technical cooperation agreement between Santa Casa and Seduc has existed since 2009, and through this agreement, the Secretary of Education assigns teachers to our hospital so that the children who are hospitalized here can continue their studies concurrently with their health treatment.”
“Today was a moment to celebrate Children's Day, due to the month of October, which is a month in which we develop projects related to children. It is a moment to celebrate with them through playful activities, games, with the presence of clowns, dolls, involving the children to celebrate their Day. In addition, we also distributed more than 60 gifts to all our children who are hospitalized in the pediatric unit,” points out Rosilene.
At Santa Casa, the celebrations for Children's Day will continue in the coming days in other areas of the hospital such as the Welcoming Space and the Pediatric Hemodialysis Ward.
