Eastern Regional Hospital promotes educational action on the rights of people with disabilities
The goal of the state public health unit is to highlight the importance of information and access to the legal guarantees achieved by this public.
The Public Regional Hospital of the East (HRPL), located in Paragominas, in the southeastern region of Pará, held on Tuesday (30) a health education action aimed at users and companions, in the central reception. The activity included guidance on the theme "Rights of People with Disabilities", reinforcing the importance of information and access to the legal guarantees achieved by this public.

Gustavo Silva, administrative assistant of the Permanent Education Center (NEP), recalled that the "National Day of the Struggle of People with Disabilities", celebrated on September 21, highlights the right to education and health for all. He emphasized that much of the discussion is about "how we can overcome barriers imposed by society itself", ensuring access mainly through laws such as the LBI (Brazilian Law on the Inclusion of People with Disabilities), which provides for priority service, penalties for discrimination, and quotas in selection processes.

Despite the advances, Gustavo Silva highlighted that "the biggest barriers are still within ourselves, in the judgmental gaze and in prejudice".
Maria Monteiro de Lima, 52, said she learned about the campaign through the newspapers. She mentioned that she has several relatives with disabilities and closely follows the challenges faced by them and other family members. "It is a daily struggle, but we are united with them," added the resident of Garrafão do Norte, a municipality in the northeast of the state.
