This Wednesday (1st), the Museum of Image and Sound promotes another edition of CineClubeMIS. Two documentaries by French filmmaker Frédéric Létang will be screened starting at 6:30 PM in the Eneida de Moraes auditorium. The program is entirely free and will include Frédéric's participation for a conversation, mediated by the director of MIS, Indaiá Freire. The age rating is 12 years.

The first documentary, ‘A Terra e a Pena, 88’ - La terre et la peine - will be presented at 6:30 PM. Then, at 8 PM, it will be the turn of the work ‘Amazônia, Luzes e Sombras, 90’.

“These two films discuss issues such as the right to land, the process of climate change due to deforestation, the relationship of traditional peoples, riverside communities, and rural farmers with the environment where they live and from which they derive their livelihood. Frédéric's first film from 1997 portrays a community impacted by land grabbing and their resistance to maintain their right to their place of residence and livelihood,” says Indaiá.

French filmmaker Frédéric Létang has documentaries about the relationship of the Amazonian population with their territories

She further explains the proposal of the second film, “25 years later, he returns to this same community to check what had changed from that previous situation, what had changed in the lives of the interviewed people, how everyone was: parents, children, relatives, the geography, the social actions that permeate the issues addressed in the first film,” she concludes.

Directing Style - Létang is recognized for exploring complex themes with sensitivity in portraying social and environmental realities. His work often combines the observation of social processes with an artistic approach. His collaboration with Brazil and the Amazon, in particular, demonstrates a continuous commitment to local issues, showing the impact of policies and changes over decades.
