The Pará Center for Hemotherapy and Hematology Foundation (Hemopa), in partnership with the University of the Amazon (Unama), promoted a blood donation campaign in Belém on September 25 and 26. The action mobilized students, teachers, and staff from the Gentil Bittencourt and Alcindo Cacela units, aiming to reinforce the stocks of the blood center and stimulate the culture of voluntary donation among the academic community.

The initiative included a setup for collection at both university units, as well as the transportation of volunteer caravans to the Hemopa headquarters.
Integration between health and education
The mobilization began on Thursday (25) at the Gentil Bittencourt unit, where a special room was prepared to welcome donors. On Friday (26), the action continued at the Alcindo Cacela unit, with a similar setup. On both occasions, groups of students also went to the blood center to make donations.
Professor Kelly Hirai from the Biomedicine course at Unama highlighted the positive impact of the campaign among students. “The partnership with Hemopa mobilizes students and shows, in practice, the importance of blood donation to save lives,” she stated.
Solidarity that transforms lives
Social worker Nazaré Saldanha from the Donor Recruitment Management (Gecad) of Hemopa emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership. “The partnership with Unama reinforces the academic training of students with values of volunteering and solidarity, in addition to increasing the number of blood donations and bone marrow registrations,” she explained.

Among the participants, student Gustavo Trindade shared his motivation. “I felt motivated by the college's mobilization and wanted to take this opportunity to help people with a gesture of solidarity,” he declared.
Culture of donation and university engagement
Campaigns like this strengthen the operation of the state blood network while contributing to the civic formation of young university students. The partnership between Hemopa and higher education institutions expands the reach of donor recruitment actions, promoting youth engagement in high-impact social causes.
