CIIR receives dogs from the Goldens pela Vida project in an action aimed at the well-being of users
Therapeutic activity reinforces the humanization of care and enhances the social integration of children and families

The Integrated Center for Inclusion and Rehabilitation (CIIR) held, this Friday (26), another innovative action aimed at the well-being and rehabilitation process of users. The initiative featured six Golden Retriever dogs, part of the "Goldens pela Vida" project from the Goldens Club of Belém, who were present at the unit for animal-assisted activities.
The program, which takes place for the third consecutive year, was organized by the Humanized Working Group (GTH) of CIIR, in partnership with the project, and aimed to promote sensory stimulation, social interaction, and moments of welcome for children and families receiving support at the institution, in addition to serving as an initiative for September Yellow, a national campaign against suicide and emotional disorders.
Experience that strengthens rehabilitation
During the morning, the dogs roamed different areas of the unit, also participating in an early stimulation therapy session with children aged 0 to 3 years and interacting with users and staff. According to Bruno Cruz, rehabilitation coordinator at CIIR, the action represents a reinforcement of the treatment carried out daily at the institution.
"The goal is to provide greater autonomy, greater social integration of users with the dogs, also reducing stress and favoring communication between users and their families, with more gains within the therapies," highlighted the manager.

Positive impact for families - For the present mothers and fathers, the initiative brought immediate results. Jaênice Praxedes, mother of little Ravi, who has a diagnosis of autism support 2 and has been undergoing rehabilitation at CIIR for a year, reported her surprise at her son's participation. "I thought he wouldn't accept this action. I was afraid he would be scared of the animals, but on the contrary. The beginning was a little difficult for him because it was his first contact, but he liked it a lot, in his own way, he stayed in his little corner and didn't want to get too close, but he liked it a lot," she reported.
Goldens pela Vida Club - The Goldens pela Vida Club project was created in 2022 and has been expanding its activities in health, education, and social assistance spaces, in partnership with various institutions. According to Roseane Barbosa, a member of the project, the dogs have become important allies in therapeutic support.
"They act as facilitators of therapy. They brighten the environment, reduce anxiety, and make the rehabilitation process lighter. Today we brought six dogs of different ages and profiles, precisely to cater to various types of interaction," she explained.

Innovation in care - Nationally recognized as a reference in rehabilitation, CIIR has been incorporating innovative practices that enhance the quality of care provided to the population of Pará. The presence of therapeutic dogs reinforces the State Government's commitment to offering humanized care that values the integrity of care and strengthens the relationship between users, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
