The State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas) published, in the State Official Gazette on Wednesday (24), the Notice No. 03/2025, which opens the Simplified Selection Process (PSS) for the formation of volunteer civil brigades for the prevention and combat of forest fires. This initiative is part of the Pará Sem Fogo Program, launched in June 2025, which aims to strengthen actions for the prevention and combat of wildfires and forest fires in the State.

One of the strategic actions of the Program is the creation of forest brigades, in addition to fire management plans, zoning of the most vulnerable areas, and the implementation of an Integrated Multi-Agency Center for Combating Forest Fires. These actions aim to improve the response to fires and strengthen the protection of forests and Amazonian communities.

The Notice provides for the selection of 112 volunteer firefighters to operate in seven priority areas, as well as to form a reserve list of up to 224 candidates. The municipalities covered are Rurópolis, Itaituba, Trairão, Novo Progresso, Jacareacanga, Altamira (district of Castelo dos Sonhos), and São Félix do Xingu (rural areas).

Benefits - The selected firefighters will have a workload of 44 hours per week and will receive a monthly allowance of up to R$ 3,036.00. The requirements for participation include being between 18 and 59 years old, having completed elementary education, residing near the area of operation, and having physical and mental fitness for physical effort activities.

The selection process will be carried out in five phases: registration (online or in person at the Semas Regional Centers), document and curriculum analysis, Physical Aptitude Test (TAF), Agricultural Tools Skill Test (Thufa), final result, and calling.

Registrations are free and will be open from October 1 to 5, 2025, through the Semas portal. It will also be possible to register in person from October 1 to 3 at the Regional Centers of the Secretariat.

Approved candidates will undergo training in the prevention and combat of forest fires, conducted by the Military Fire Brigade, from October 27 to 31, 2025. Activities will begin on November 6, 2025.

According to Lília Reis, Deputy Secretary of Administrative Management and Technologies of Semas, "the launch of this Notice is a concrete action to strengthen the Pará Sem Fogo Program, expanding the operation of volunteer brigades and contributing to environmental protection and the safety of communities in the State."
