On the banks of the Trombetas River, Oriximiná stands out as a city that combines natural beauty, urban organization, and dynamic management. Recognized for its cleanliness and hospitality, the city presents socioeconomic indicators above the regional average, confirming its potential to become a strategic hub for business and investments.

It was in this context that, on the night of this Wednesday (24), the municipality hosted the Economic Development Seminar, promoted by the Economic Development Company of Pará (Codec), in partnership with the City Hall. Held at the Integrated Operations and Security Center (CIOPS), the meeting brought together state authorities, local managers, entrepreneurs, and community leaders to discuss strategies for strengthening the business environment and opening a new cycle of growth.

The beginning of the program included speeches from the municipal secretary of planning and administration, Bosco Almeida; the president of the City Council, Renan Guimarães; and the mayor of Oriximiná, José Willian Fonseca (Delegate Fonseca).

Municipal Secretary of Planning and Administration: "This dialogue with Codec is essential"

Secretary Bosco Almeida emphasized that the seminar marks a long-awaited moment for the community. “Oriximiná has been waiting for decades for concrete opportunities to structure its productive space. This dialogue with Codec is fundamental because it shows that we are not just discussing, but starting a joint journey towards the development that our community so eagerly awaits.”

In the same vein, the president of the City Council, Renan Guimarães, reinforced the role of the Legislative in supporting growth initiatives. “On behalf of the Legislative and the people of Oriximiná, I thank Codec for holding this seminar in our city. We have been seeking this dialogue for years, and today it becomes a reality, strengthening our commitment to local development. We are available to continue contributing at every stage of this process.”

The mayor highlighted that the event symbolizes a turning point for the municipality, advocating for both economic diversification and the appreciation of local traditions.
“Our city needs to reduce its dependence on mining and make room for new productive sectors. Therefore, we advocate for the creation of an Industrial District that brings new initiatives, diversifies the economy, and expands job and income opportunities.”

He also emphasized that religious tourism is one of the priorities of his administration.
“Oriximiná already has a very strong tradition in religious tourism, with events like the night river Círio, which is beautiful and known throughout Pará. Our goal is to expand this segment, further engaging the community and transforming religious tourism into a development engine for the city.”

Next, Codec advisor Evandro Diniz presented the main socioeconomic indicators of Oriximiná, based on data from Fapespa and IBGE, and detailed the productive chains with the greatest growth potential, such as agribusiness, livestock, mining, timber, ceramics, commerce, and tourism. He explained that the Investor Guide for Oriximiná will gather this information in a single document, providing security for entrepreneurs and direction for public policies.

The meeting also opened space for dialogue with strategic sectors. At this moment, representatives from mining, shipbuilding, and local commerce shared their perceptions on the challenges and opportunities of the municipality.

Alberto Julie, manager of Mineração Rio Norte: "Strengthening local suppliers, training the workforce, and generating community income are essential pillars for the development of Oriximiná," he said.

The Institutional Relations manager of Mineração Rio do Norte, Alberto Julie, reinforced that the company sees the initiative as an opportunity for cooperation. “Strengthening local suppliers, training the workforce, and generating community income are essential pillars for the development of Oriximiná. We have many challenges ahead, but initiatives like this seminar help identify the municipality's vocations and build solutions together.”

The representative of the shipbuilding and naval sector, Anderson Silva, reminded that shipyards are an essential part of the regional economy. In addition to boosting commerce and generating jobs, according to him, the sector ensures safe transportation for students, workers, and riverside communities. “This is a heritage that needs support to continue growing and strengthening our city.”

Manager of the Chamber of Shopkeepers (CDL), Deivison Guimarães approved the action as a strategy for the region

The president of the Chamber of Shopkeepers (CDL) of Oriximiná, Davidson Guimarães, also highlighted the relevance of the meeting. For him, the seminar represents an important advance in the approach between public power and private initiative, creating a safer and more attractive environment for new investments in the municipality.

The meeting consolidated already completed stages, such as alignment meetings and data collection, and paved the way for the next steps: the preparation of the Investor Guide for Oriximiná, evaluation of the implementation of an incentivized industrial area, and construction of public policies to stimulate development.

Codec also presented a draft of a Tax Incentives Bill, to be reviewed by the City Hall and the City Council, as a proposed instrument capable of making the municipality more attractive to new enterprises. The suggestion provides for tax benefits for companies that settle or expand their activities, prioritizing the hiring of local labor and reinforcing job and income generation.

With a per capita GDP above the regional average, an average worker remuneration exceeding R$ 3,800, and an export sector led by bauxite, Oriximiná already demonstrates robust indicators. Furthermore, tourism is gaining strength with attractions such as the Saracá-Taquera National Forest, the Trombetas River Biological Reserve, and traditional events like fishing championships, agricultural exhibitions, and the night river Círio itself.

On the same day, Codec also fulfilled an institutional agenda in Oriximiná, with visits to the City Hall and the City Council, reinforcing dialogue with local managers and partners.

The president of Codec, Lutfala Bitar, highlighted that each seminar is an opportunity to bring the State closer to the city halls and entrepreneurs. He stated that Oriximiná symbolizes the potential for economic transformation that Pará municipalities can achieve and that the city is ready to start a new cycle of development.

More than a technical meeting, the program reinforced that Oriximiná has all the conditions to turn its potential into reality. A welcoming, organized city with modern management, the municipality positions itself on the map of regional development as a strategic destination for new businesses and investments.
