Usinas da Paz promotes a customization course aimed at Círio
The courses work on techniques for creating mantles, customizing shirts, making accessories, personalizing Círio posters, and sales strategies
The Usinas da Paz strengthen local entrepreneurship with courses that combine tradition, creativity, and opportunities for extra income. The citizenship complexes of the State Government are open for registration for activities aimed at those who wish to start a business selling religious items for the Círio de Nazaré festival, celebrated next month in October.
The courses offered by UsiPaz work on techniques for creating mantles, customizing shirts, making accessories, personalizing Círio posters, and sales strategies, encouraging the creative and collaborative production of the community.
At the Usina da Paz Terra Firme, a class dedicated to customizing accessories for Círio is already in operation. During the classes, participants learn to transform simple pieces into exclusive items that carry cultural and religious significance.
For resident Dilcélia Portela, 67, the experience has been remarkable. “I have always enjoyed manual work, but here I learned new techniques that I can use to earn extra income. Moreover, it is very special to participate in something related to Círio, which is so important for us from Pará,” she said.
The Secretary of Citizenship Articulation, Elieth Braga, highlighted the relevance of the initiative. “These courses offer new opportunities for the community, strengthen the local economy, and at the same time, preserve our people's culture. It is a way to generate income, but also to value the tradition of Círio, which is a heritage of all of us from Pará,” she stated.
In addition to the ongoing class, new opportunities are available in other Usinas da Paz.

Usina da Paz Cabanagem: Two classes – morning (8 AM to 1 PM) and afternoon (1:30 PM to 5:30 PM) – from 29/9 to 03/10. Registration on-site, starting September 24.
Usina da Paz Guamá: Table setting course for Círio, from 29/9 to 03/10, from 2 PM to 6 PM. Registration on-site, starting September 25.
Usina da Paz Jurunas/Condor: Workshop for customizing Círio posters for the elderly, on 08/10, at 9 AM. Registration starting September 25, at the library of the Usina itself.
