With the achievement of the silver medal at the state stage of the Brazilian Robotics Olympiad (OBR) this year, students from the Domingos Acatauassú Nunes State School, in the Marco neighborhood of Belém, secured an unprecedented spot to compete at the largest robotics and artificial intelligence event in Latin America, which will be held at the City of Innovation (Ifes) in Vitória (ES) from October 13 to 19.

The "Tambataja Tech" team won the medal in the artistic level 1 category, presenting a theatrical piece with robots programmed to represent the story of a dragon. The project combined creativity, technology, teamwork, and programming skills, highlighting the transformative potential of robotics in the school environment.

Represented by students Pedro Lucas de Souza Pinto, Danilo Mendonça Ribeiro, Antony Gabriel Souza dos Souza, and Ana Beatriz Vasconcelos Souza, under the guidance of teacher Aldelice Dias, the school is the only one in the state public network qualified for the national stage of the OBR.

For student Ana Beatriz Vasconcelos, the OBR represents much more than a competition. "It is a unique opportunity to learn, create, and challenge oneself through robotics in a fun and stimulating way. The experience enhances teamwork, creative thinking, and the ability to solve complex problems, as well as bringing together young people with similar interests,” said the student.

The group receives mentorship from the Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Basic Education (Ciseb), which plays a fundamental role in providing technical and pedagogical support to students in the state network.

The Ciseb accompanied "Tambataja Tech" in other important competitions, such as the First Lego League (FLL), where the team also achieved significant results and increasing engagement among students.

Coordinator Aldelice Dias highlights the pedagogical impact of the initiative. "The students' participation gave us the opportunity to win the silver medal and the invitation to represent the northern region in Vitória, Espírito Santo. It is an experience that improves performance in Mathematics, Portuguese Language, Arts, Sciences, and Technology, and broadens interaction with other teams across the country,” pointed out the teacher.

OBR - The Brazilian Robotics Olympiad is aimed at students from elementary and high school (public and private networks) with the goal of fostering interest in science and technology through robotics integrated into the school curriculum. The competition stimulates skills such as autonomy, collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Now, the team is preparing to represent Pará at the national stage, reaffirming the protagonism of young people from the public network in the Brazilian educational and scientific landscape.
