Blood donor reiterates the solidarity campaign of the Regional Hospital of Southeast Pará – Dr. Geraldo Veloso (HRSP)

A simple gesture can turn into hope for many families. On September 23 and 24, the Regional Hospital of Southeast Pará – Dr. Geraldo Veloso (HRSP) invites the population of Marabá and the region to participate in the blood donation campaign. The action, held at the Hemotherapy and Hematology Center of Pará (Hemopa), aims to reinforce the stocks and ensure the continuity of medical care in the region.

The campaign "Leave Your Mark. Multiply Lives" is conducted by the hospital's Transfusion Agency, in partnership with the group "Friends of Blood", which works to encourage volunteering. The expectation is to gather dozens of donors and reinforce solidarity as a vital link that saves lives and sustains hemotherapy assistance in the region.

Blood collected by Hemopa is essential for transfusion care in hospitals in Marabá and the region

"By donating blood, a person offers much more than a few minutes of their time: they multiply lives. It is an act of love that goes beyond the individual gesture and reaches the beds of patients who hold a new chance to start over, with courage, strength, care, dignity, and hope," highlighted the hospital's executive director, Flávio Marconsini.

The blood collected by Hemopa is indispensable for transfusion care in hospitals in Marabá and the region, having one of the highest demands at the Regional Hospital as it is a reference for medium and high complexity in southeastern Pará. The bags are used in the treatment of clinical and surgical situations in the Reception, Surgical Center, and Clinics wards. This care network ensures continuous, safe, and humanized assistance.

Volunteers are essential for maintaining blood stocks at the Hemopa Foundation

Network of solidarity

The campaign is also a call for society to unite around life. For biomedical Amanda Neves, who works at the Regional Hospital of Marabá, each volunteer is part of an essential chain. "When someone donates blood, they not only help one patient but become part of a network that supports thousands of treatments. It is a simple act, but with an immeasurable impact for those who depend on this gesture of solidarity," she reinforced.

Dr. Socorro Leão, responsible for the Transfusion Agency, reminded that each donor becomes part of someone else's story. "The blood donated today may be tomorrow in a patient undergoing hemodialysis, in someone who has undergone emergency surgery, or in someone who fights daily for life in a bed. It is an invisible gift, but it pulses within another life," highlighted the professional.

In the campaign of the Regional Hospital of Marabá, managed by the Institute of Social and Environmental Health of the Amazon (ISSAA) in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), volunteers who donate blood at Hemopa in Marabá should inform the code 986. This gesture ensures that the donation is directed, with the institution contributing to maintain the supply of the unit and strengthening the care network.
