The governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho, fulfilled a series of strategic agendas on Monday (22) during Climate Week in New York, United States, reinforcing the State's role in building a global sustainable development agenda. Host of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), Belém will be the center of global climate discussions from November 10 to 21, 2025.

During the official program, Helder Barbalho met with the president of Philip Morris Brazil, Branko Sevarlic, to discuss possible partnerships and strategic support involving the strengthening of environmental public policies in the State.

Among the topics discussed were support for the Payment for Environmental Services (PSA) program, initiatives aimed at the preservation and management of water resources, and the encouragement of the Bioamazon Valley project – a proposal that combines innovation, sustainability, and the enhancement of the forest's productive chains. The possibility of expanding successful experiences from the company in sustainable agriculture programs implemented in Rio Grande do Sul to Pará was also debated.

“Pará has been seeking to articulate, with strategic partners, actions that strengthen environmental public policies and stimulate a new economy for the Amazon. Our agenda of meetings with actors like Philip Morris aims to boost initiatives based on sustainability, innovation, and social inclusion,” said Helder Barbalho.
