The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), authorized on Wednesday and Thursday (18) the start of construction of Sports Complexes in Garrafão do Norte, Ulianópolis, Paragominas, and Irituia. The constructions are part of the state program Sports and Leisure Squares throughout Pará, which plans to implement 40 sports facilities in different regions of the state.

The initiative aims to expand the population's access to sports practice, leisure, and community integration. In this first phase, 20 municipalities will be benefited with the complexes. In addition to the four cities announced this week, the works had already been confirmed in Santa Luzia do Pará and Vitória do Xingu in August.

Complete structure and social impact

The complexes will feature a wide infrastructure, including a synthetic grass soccer field, covered multipurpose court, skate park, sand court, outdoor gym, walking track, and community kiosks. The standard project aims to provide adequate and safe spaces for physical activities and promote social interaction and citizenship.

During an agenda in Irituia, the head of Seel, Cássio Andrade, highlighted the benefits of the initiative for the population of the interior of Pará.

“The sports complexes represent a new milestone for sports and leisure in the interior of Pará. They are not just spaces for sports practice, but also for coexistence, citizenship, and social inclusion. It is an investment that transforms realities and ensures quality of life for thousands of people from Pará. This is the commitment of Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan: to bring sports and leisure to all of Pará,” said the secretary.

Local recognition

The population of the benefited municipalities has celebrated the arrival of investments. In Irituia, Mayor Pio X Júnior highlighted the importance of the work for the youth and the development of the city.

“It is a dream come true for our people. The municipality of Irituia can only thank Secretary Cássio Andrade, Governor Helder Barbalho, and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan for the investment in our city,” he said.

Investment and schedule

The works will begin simultaneously in the four municipalities and have an estimated completion time of 12 months. The total investment is R$ 32,887,231.52, funded with resources from the State Government.
