At the invitation of the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), the Information and Communication Technology Company of Pará (Prodepa) participates in the Cyber Guardian Exercise 7.0 (EGC 7.0), one of the largest cyber defense trainings in the world aimed at preparing Brazil to protect critical infrastructures during major events, such as COP30, which will be held in Belém in 2025. The company's presence reinforces the integration between state and federal governments in building a cybersecurity system, consolidating the prominence of the capital of Pará as a national HUB in the area.

Promoted by the Joint Operational Command Marajoara, linked to the Ministry of Defense, EGC 7.0 takes place from September 15 to 19, simultaneously in Brasília, at the Superior Defense School, and at the Northern Military Command in Belém, gathering about 700 participants from all over the country. Representing Pará, Prodepa plays a strategic role in monitoring, analyzing, and responding to possible cyber attacks, in addition to contributing to the training of local teams in digital security.

The training simulates attacks against vital sectors such as electricity, communications, transportation, health, finance, environment, and virtual threats. "The Cyber Guardian Exercise increases our defense capacity, adding development and allowing Prodepa to interact with all of Brazil and more than 20 countries today. It is a warm-up to safely welcome everyone in communications,” said Jônatas do Nascimento Gomes, Project Division Manager of Citizenship at Prodepa.

According to Division General Correa Filho, commander of Cyber Defense, the same system used in the G20 and BRICS in Rio de Janeiro is being applied in Belém. “During BRICS, we faced up to three attacks per second, with no successful records. This experience is now being brought to COP30,” he highlighted.

In the Amazon region, the focus is on protecting essential infrastructure. As many local companies are small and have fewer resources, Prodepa works in partnership with the Armed Forces and other agencies to enhance technical training, provide support, and reduce vulnerabilities. This work has been developed for over a year, and the current exercise marks the peak of this process.
