The municipality of Juruti, in the Lower Amazon Integration Region, hosts a strategic agenda promoted by the State Tourism Secretariat (Setur). The agenda includes the workshop 'Challenges and Opportunities for Responsible Tourism', Cadastur training, and the Tourist Inventory Platform (PIT), as well as visits to accommodation facilities. The event, which started on the 16th and ends tomorrow (18th), is aimed at the tourism trade, managers, the Municipal Tourism Council, and the community.

The workshop will feature lectures on "Responsible Tourism - Addressing Sexual Violence Against Children and Adolescents in Tourism" and also a workshop on the reuse of cooking oil for the production of handmade soap. During the workshop, municipal managers will be made aware of the implementation of responsible management actions, encouraging the adoption of good sustainability practices and addressing sexual violence against children and adolescents in the context of tourism. This action is part of the project "Responsible Tourism: The Tourism We Want", which is a strategy of Setur aimed at contributing to the strengthening and growth of tourism through lectures and guiding workshops on the theme of Responsible Tourism.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, responsible tourism is an approach that seeks to minimize negative impacts on local communities and the environment while maximizing benefits for the visited location, the economy, and culture. It involves a change in mindset and attitudes from tourists, sector companies, and governments, promoting practices aimed at social, environmental, and economic sustainability.

“Tourism discussions are transversal, so we work on the approach of responsible tourism that encompasses themes such as sustainability, respect and appreciation of the local community, addressing violence, and the integrity of children and adolescents in the context of tourism, contributing to a safe and protected environment for all,” indicated Rosely Coroa, a technician at Setur and a local agent for Responsible Tourism in Pará.

The Tourist Inventory Platform is the database that gathers information on the survey, identification, and registration of tourist attractions, services, and infrastructure supporting tourism. From this database, it is possible to plan, manage, and promote tourism activities according to priorities and resources, thinking about sustainable tourism. The lecture will be conducted by Setur technician, Cristiane Barros.

The Cadastur training will be conducted by technician Albert Pantoja during the visit to accommodation facilities with access instructions, a step-by-step guide for registration, and information on the importance of the tool. Cadastur is the registration system for individuals and legal entities operating in the tourism sector. The national registration, executed by the Ministry of Tourism in partnership with the secretariats, guarantees various advantages and opportunities to its registrants and is also an important source of consultation for tourists.

In total, 16 accommodation facilities will be visited where training and registration on the national Cadastur platform will take place, along with awareness-raising activities and the distribution of posters for the Campaign "Addressing and Preventing the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents in Tourism."
