To celebrate the 46 years of history completed this Wednesday (17), the Waldemar Henrique Experimental Theater, in Belém, will offer the public three days of free programming on September 18, 23, and 26.

“We will have significant expressions in the programming of our anniversary. We divided the artistic expressions to contemplate the different languages that are welcomed in the space. The public can expect a diverse program that will celebrate the 46 years of the theater,” informs the coordinator of TEWH, Marcelo do Carmo. He emphasizes that “the Theater is preparing for this programming with all the dedication of the technicians and free presentations of shows in different artistic languages.”

On Thursday (18), starting at 5 PM, the highlight will be dance, with performances in the outdoor area and on the internal stage of the space. There will be presentations of dances that stand out in the regional and global scenes.

Waldemar Henrique Theater, in Praça da República, is a stage for experimental art

Diversity - Among the attractions are the Clara Pinto Dance Company, the Social Project Studio Corpo em Movimento - from the Federal Rural University of the Amazon (Ufra), the Marcelo Riva Artistic Center, Cia. Cabanos, and “Amazonian Diversity - A show that dances the Pará culture,” produced by the dance group from the Lourenço Filho School/Pestalozzi Foundation.

Next Tuesday (23), starting at 7 PM, the Theater will host experiments involving clowning, shows with music, and the valorization of the defense of the Amazon Rainforest and indigenous peoples through the show “Amanajés” and other presentations.

On Friday (26), also starting at 7 PM, the commemorative programming will conclude with music, highlighting the participation of the Helena Maia Youth Orchestra and the musical group OVA - Amazon Cello Orchestra.

History - Created in 1979 after a public act by the Pará artistic class, and with a name that honors the great Pará maestro, the Waldemar Henrique Experimental Theater meets the needs of local artists to experiment and innovate in various artistic languages. By welcoming creative effervescence, the TEWH stage is an example of resistance and boldness of Pará art.

Characterized by eclectic architecture, with Art Nouveau features, the venue is currently marked by structural revitalizations and renovations in the space, which had not displayed such grandeur since 1996. In 2012, it underwent reforms in the administrative structure and received new instruments, and currently, the TEWH is undergoing interventions on the exterior, renewal of external and internal paintings, and adjustments in accessibility to offer greater comfort to the public.
