Pará is represented at the event by a group of 63 delegates, elected at the state stage

In Brasília (DF), the Pará delegation is present at the 5th National Conference on Racial Equality Promotion (Conapir), representing the cultural and social diversity of the State. The national event started last Monday (15) and will continue until Friday (19). The group of 63 delegates participating in the conference was elected during the state stage, held in August by the government of Pará, through the Secretary of Racial Equality and Human Rights (Seirdh), in partnership with the State Council for Racial Equality Promotion Policy (Coneppir).

The official opening of the event featured the participation of the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, accompanied by the Minister of Racial Equality, Anielle Franco; the First Lady, Janja Lula da Silva; the Ministers of Human Rights and Citizenship, Macaé Evaristo; of Women, Márcia Lopes; of Culture, Margareth Menezes; of the Environment and Climate Change, Marina Silva; of Education, Camilo Santana; of Labor and Employment, Luiz Marinho; of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, Márcio Macêdo; of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture, Paulo Teixeira; and of Social Security, Wolney Queiroz.

With the theme "Equality and Democracy: Reparation and Racial Justice", the conference brings together representatives from all Brazilian states, social movements, and public managers. Pará defined 15 priority proposals collectively built in Belém. Among the proposals are structural and foundational policies addressing the environment, sustainability, and biodiversity preservation.

Edilza Fontes, head of Seirdh, participates in the national conference with enthusiasm

The head of Seirdh, Edilza Fontes, participates in the national conference with enthusiasm and emphasizes the strength of Pará's representation. "It is a very significant participation. Pará decisively contributes with proposals that reflect the reality of our communities and reaffirms the State government's commitment to advancing the construction of public policies that ensure racial justice. It is a source of pride to see our delegation acting with such firmness and representativeness," she emphasizes.

In addition to advocating for the proposals, the delegates also participate in dialogue tables, thematic working groups, and parallel articulations to strengthen civil society initiatives. The presence of quilombolas, indigenous people, black women, youth, people of African descent, the black LGBT population, and representatives of public power reinforces the plurality and legitimacy of Pará's participation at the national stage.

Kátia Nunes represents Pará and advocates for public policy proposals

For the members of the delegation, the experience is an opportunity to strengthen networking and share practices that have been developed in the State. Delegate Kátia Nunes, a member of the State Council for Racial Equality Promotion Policy (Coneppir), points out Pará's participation as a consolidation of efforts made at the municipal and state levels. "We are at this conference to consolidate the proposals and reaffirm those that still require attention. We will discuss the Amazon Fund, a crucial proposal for the consolidation of affirmative policies, which aims to expand the reach of proposals across all segments. Without the environment and its structuring, we cannot strengthen our ancestry. Therefore, it is one of the proposals we present as a highlight, seeking its approval among the five that will be selected," she states.

The director of Racial Equality at Seirdh, João Corrêa, evaluates it as a great networking opportunity

The director of Racial Equality at Seirdh, João Corrêa, sees it as a great networking opportunity for Pará's delegates. "It has been wonderful to experience the event. Yesterday we had the presence of President Lula, and he highlighted the importance of conferences promoting racial equality and the implementation of the National System for Racial Equality Promotion (Sinapir). The debates focus on proposals from all Brazilian states and promote an environment of harmony and tranquility. There is intense networking activity with delegates sharing challenges and advances from their states. And all of this can generate new ideas for the local level. The national conference celebrates the diversity and unity of all Brazil," he states.

The 5th National Conference on Racial Equality Promotion continues until Friday (19) and consolidates itself as a strategic space for the formulation of public policies. The performance of the Pará delegation ensures that local demands are at the center of this debate.
