With the support of the State Government, athletes begin the national competition in Brasília with good results in futsal, basketball, and beach volleyball

With the support of the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), the second block of the Pará delegation debuted with victories in the Youth Games, in Brasília (DF). The positive results came in the women's modalities of futsal, basketball, and beach volleyball, ensuring confidence for the continuation of the competition, which runs until September 25.
In total, Pará has 61 athletes, both men and women, distributed across the modalities of basketball, futsal, beach volleyball, and wrestling (Olympic wrestling). The event, promoted by the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), brings together about 4,700 young people aged 14 to 17, representing all states of the country.

Athlete Ágatha Fernandez, 15 years old, debuted with a victory in basketball against Ceará, by 42 to 33, and celebrated the collective performance.
"It was a very difficult and competitive game, but we managed to work well as a team and achieve victory. This is my first time at the Games and I find it amazing, especially playing against older and more experienced girls. It’s a unique opportunity," she highlighted.

The athlete's mother, doctor Iê Bentes Fernandez, attended the match and emphasized the emotion of seeing her daughter representing the State.
"It is a great pleasure to accompany Ágatha on this journey. It has been three years of dedication to basketball, and seeing her play in an event of this magnitude is very rewarding. The team had a brilliant debut," she stated.

In beach volleyball, Pará athlete Ana Carolina, 16 years old, from Mocajuba, celebrated the triumph over Roraima by 2 sets to 0.
"Debuting with a win is very special. This result is the result of a lot of effort from me, my partner, and the coach. We will continue to strive for the medal, always playing with dedication and confidence," she said.
In women's futsal, the team ended the day with an impressive victory: 8 to 3 against Roraima. Meanwhile, the men's results were not favorable: a loss in basketball to Pernambuco (69 to 52), in beach volleyball to São Paulo (2 to 1), and in futsal to Roraima (5 to 4).
In wrestling, the Pará athletes also took action. The highlight was Enzo Santos, in the under 55kg category, who reached the fight for third place, finishing in fourth. The competition continues this Tuesday (17) with men's Greco-Roman style and women's freestyle wrestling.
The Secretary of Sports and Leisure, Cássio Andrade, highlighted the importance of the competition in revealing new talents.
"The Youth Games are the biggest showcase of school sports in Brazil, revealing talents and strengthening the future of national sports. Seeing Pará achieving victories right in the debut of this second block shows the potential of our youth. The Government of Pará, through Seel, has been investing more and more to ensure that our young athletes have the conditions to compete on equal terms with the whole country," he stated.
The third and final block of the Pará delegation will depart on the next day 18, bringing together athletes from badminton, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, taekwondo, handball, and volleyball.
