On the morning of this Wednesday (10), cycling from Pará made its debut at the 2025 Youth Games in Brasília (DF), in the maximum power events, both for women and men. Although no medals were won in this first participation, the athletes' performance was praised by the attending public.

On Thursday (11), the four representatives from the State — Suellen Souza, Elisa Gomes, Emanoel Alves, and Wellingson Lima — return to the tracks to compete in the speed events. In addition to cycling, there will also be events in athletics, swimming, and table tennis.

The technical director of the State Secretariat for Sports and Leisure (Seel) and head of the Pará delegation, Gisele Almeida, highlighted the importance of the debut. “We are very happy with the participation of our cycling athletes in the Youth Games. The result goes beyond medals; regardless of the outcomes, it is already a source of pride for us, and these young people are victorious for representing the State of Pará with such dignity and efficiency,” she stated.

The cyclist Emanoel Alves, who competed in the maximum power event, emphasized the excitement of participating in the national competition. “It was a very challenging race, with athletes of the highest level. Although I did not win a medal, I was satisfied with my performance and motivated for the upcoming competitions. Representing Pará at this event is a huge pride,” he said.

The competition began on Wednesday (10) and will continue until September 25, bringing together more than five thousand student-athletes aged 15 to 17 from all regions of Brazil. Pará participates with a delegation of 217 members, including athletes, coaches, and officials, with support from the government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Sports and Leisure (Seel).

Organized by the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), the event will have its opening ceremony on Wednesday (10) at 6 PM at the International Convention Center of Brazil, which will also host part of the competitions, in addition to the Community Center, restaurant, and headquarters of the organization.

In this first block, the Pará delegation consists of 52 athletes, distributed across athletics, cycling, artistic gymnastics, swimming, and table tennis. On the 12th, it will be the turn of the second group to depart to compete in wrestling (Olympic wrestling), basketball, futsal, and beach volleyball. The third and final block is expected to depart on the 18th for competitions in badminton, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, taekwondo, handball, and volleyball.
