Ideflor-Bio hosts the 1st Pará Congress of Trails in Belém, from September 15 to 17
The event will discuss strengthening Pará as an ecotourism destination in Brazil through ecological trails in the state territory.

From September 15 to 17, the Institute of Forest Development of Biodiversity of Pará (Ideflor-Bio), in Belém, will host the 1st Pará Congress of Trails. The event, unprecedented in the region, is organized by the Trilha Amazônia Atlântica movement. The program will discuss strengthening Pará as an ecotourism destination in Brazil through ecological trails.

The program is made in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of the Environment, Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), State Secretariat for Tourism of Pará (Setur), Federal Institute of the State of Pará (Ifpa), Conservation International, Brazilian Trail Network, among other governmental, private, and civil society institutions.
According to the president of the Trilha Amazônia Atlântica, Bruno Borges, the event aims to boost the creation of new ecological corridors and promote the existing ones in Pará. “We are holding this congress so that people can participate in the process of creation and dissemination, so that we can, in the future, actually create an Integrated Pará Trail Network, similar to the national one. We already have nine trails in Pará, and with the congress, we will increase the possibility of creating new spaces like these,” he declared.

Strengthening - The president of the Brazilian Trail Network and manager of the Belém Administrative Region of Ideflor-Bio, Júlio Meyer, emphasizes that the action will also discuss strengthening Pará in the national ecotourism scenario, based on the trails present in the state territory.
“The goal is to strengthen Pará as an ecotourism destination in Brazil, with the promotion of trails as a tourist product and for environmental conservation. The congress should help level concepts and contribute to the state's greater capacity to develop a trail network, integrating civil society, public administration, and private initiative.”
The executive secretary of the Brazilian Trail Network, Camila Bassi, highlights the importance of the event for developing networking among hikers, as well as connecting people and ideas. “Because this event is a catalyst for identifying and promoting initiatives, bringing people together, sharing experiences, and transmitting knowledge. And the realization of this action, with seminars, workshops, symposiums, and other actions are essential to promote the proposal of the Trail Network.”
