New version of the SeloVerde platform enhances transparency in livestock traceability
Pará is a pioneer in implementing a public system for environmental monitoring, and the mobile version enhances user experience

A new version of SeloVerde Pará is now live, a platform that transparently offers traceability information for the livestock production chain throughout the Pará territory. In this new update, the platform now features an enhanced mobile version, improving the experience for mobile and tablet users. This means that when accessing the site https://www.semas.pa.gov.br/seloverde/, the user will have a more adaptable experience, making it easier to view diagnostics and interactive maps.
“In this version, the interfaces are more responsive, adapting better to the size of various screens, which makes it easier to view the diagnostics and interactive maps provided by the platforms. With more and more people using mobile devices to access the internet, the improvement should make the tools more user-friendly regardless of the access location. While the online experience is enhanced, the PDF documents that can be downloaded from the platforms remain the same as the desktop version and have the same validity for their respective purposes,” explains Felipe Nunes, a member of the Remote Sensing Center at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and the Territorial Intelligence Center (CIT).

Technology and monitoring - The first Brazilian state to implement a public system with this information, in 2021, Pará invests in environmental monitoring as a way to enhance the integrity of the livestock production chain, ensuring its development and access to international markets. Raul Protazio Romão, Secretary of Environment, Climate and Sustainability of the State, emphasizes the benefits of the platform for the sector. “The Selo Verde is crucial for reducing deforestation and mitigating climate change, therefore, it is a successful experience that contributes to what we do through the State Plan for the Amazon Now, mainly through environmental regularization. With this update, we strengthen this public policy and reinforce transparency as a key element of this strategy,” he explained.
About the platform - The SeloVerde subsidizes the monitoring and evaluation of sustainable agricultural development policies and combating illegal deforestation in the state of Pará. The platform provides data on agricultural production and environmental compliance by rural properties registered in the Rural Environmental Registry. SeloVerde integrates daily public data from state and federal agencies with the aim of combating illegal deforestation, promoting environmental and land regularization, and providing transparent traceability of agricultural production.

The platform uses the most advanced technology and the best available cartographic data to assess compliance with the Forest Code of rural properties, assist in environmental and land regularization, and provide transparent traceability of direct and indirect cattle suppliers and soybean producers, integrating updated geospatial information and data from the Secretary of Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas), the Land Institute of Pará (Iterpa), the State Agricultural Defense Agency (Adepará), the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama), the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), the National Institute for Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Incra), the National Foundation of Indigenous Peoples (Funai), the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, as well as other federal agencies.
The creation of the Selo Verde platform is the result of a cooperation between the Government of Pará and the Territorial Intelligence Center (CIT) of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), in partnership with the Norwegian International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI), Guamá Foundation, Alliance for Climate and Land Use (Clua), and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
