Seap trains drone operators to enhance security in the prison system
Training promoted by Segup qualified 52 agents from various agencies, including five employees from the Department of Penitentiary Administration

The Government of Pará, through the State Department of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), held the certificate delivery for the 1st Course for Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Operators, also known as drones, this Thursday (4). The training had a workload of 60 hours and trained 52 security agents from August 25 to 29, working in agencies such as the Military Police, Fire Department, Civil Police, Seap, among others.
The action was coordinated by the Public Security Air Group (Graesp) and the River Group (GFLU), both linked to Segup.
Technology at the service of public safety
The course covered not only the handling of drones but the entire system involving unmanned aircraft – such as software, communication systems, control stations, and sensors. According to Colonel Mauro Maués from Graesp and instructor of the training, the training aims to provide qualified technical support for operations in various fronts of public safety, with more security for the agents and support for strategic decision-making.

“The operator, armed with this knowledge, can operate more safely, exposing themselves less. And, through this tool, they can assist the decision-making level of management. It is a technology that acts both in management and in operation, helping in planning and deploying the troops in the field,” explained the officer.
High demand and new classes planned
Given the growing demand for training in this area, Colonel Maués stated that there are plans for the formation of at least five more classes with 50 operators each. “The State Government is sensitive to this, especially because there is a great concern for public servants. Therefore, it proposes to invest both in the acquisition of equipment and in the qualification of operators, ensuring that they can act safely and return home,” he highlighted.
Strategic use in the prison system
The State Department of Penitentiary Administration (Seap) participated in the training with five employees. During the ceremony, the Deputy Secretary of Operational Management of Seap, Ringo Alex Rayol Frias, emphasized the importance of qualification in light of the new challenges faced in the prison environment.

“Crime has been reinventing itself, including the use of drones to try to circumvent institutional security. Therefore, we need to train our employees with appropriate equipment so that they can neutralize these actions and strengthen the control of prison activities,” defended the manager.
