The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Social Assistance, Labor, Employment and Income (Seaster), delivered the 'Temporary Benefit' on Wednesday (3) to eight families residing in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. The aid, equivalent to a minimum wage per month for three months, is intended for those facing emergency situations arising from disasters, such as fires or public calamities.

In recent months, other similar actions have been carried out, such as on August 11, when ten families from Belém benefited, and on July 2, six families received the aid.

“When the fire occurred, I was recovering from surgery because I had gallstones and lost everything. I lived with my three children, and this money will help me a lot since I am staying at my brother's house, which is nearby. I can only thank, as I have no one else to turn to at this moment,” said the self-employed Letícia Lima.

Temporary benefits are provided for in the Organic Law of Social Assistance (Loas) and are offered to people who do not have the necessary means to face adverse situations such as birth, death, temporary vulnerability, or public calamity, or circumstances that compromise the maintenance of life with dignity.

“My house suffered damage after a heavy rain in Mosqueiro; my roof was torn off by the force of the wind, and at this moment, the benefit will help me replace the few things that are still missing,” said retiree Márcio André.

The State Government reaffirms its commitment to the people of Pará by providing the necessary support in times of crisis, ensuring assistance and support to all.

"We work committedly with our population, prioritizing all those in situations of social vulnerability. The temporary benefit is a guarantee that families affected by these emergency situations have the opportunity to restart with more dignity. The role of the State is precisely this: to offer the necessary support to those in need, as well as to enable adequate conditions for these difficulties to be overcome in a short time," emphasized Inocêncio Gasparim, head of Seaster.
