Emater's Rural Model Shows Advances in Family Farming at Agricultural Fair
Event in Castanhal at the Pedro Coelho da Mota Exhibition Park in the Titanlândia neighborhood has free admission and operates from 8 AM to 11 PM

Until next Sunday (7), at the 56th Agricultural Fair of Castanhal (Expofac), in Castanhal, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém (RMB), about 45,000 people are expected to visit the Rural Model, from the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the State of Pará (Emater), according to the organization's estimate.
The Agricultural Fair of Castanhal is an event organized by the Rural Union of Castanhal (Sinrural), held at the Pedro Coelho da Mota Exhibition Park, in the Titanlândia neighborhood, with free admission and operating hours from 8 AM to 11 PM.

The Rural Model structured by Emater has one hectare and is a replica of a farm where the Government of Pará demonstrates activities and technologies developed at the level of public policies, with family farming from the 144 municipalities of Pará.
Accompanied by explanations from Emater specialists, the public can watch experiences of planting organic vegetables, raising sheep, honey collection, and landscaping with sunflowers, for example. One of the innovations for 2025 is the display of an agroforestry system (saf), with açaí, banana, and cocoa associated. The saf strategy is often used for the recovery of degraded areas, resulting in reforestation and food production.

In the structure, Emater and partners, such as the Agricultural Research Company (Embrapa), are also conducting scientific training for professionals in the environmental and agrarian fields and receiving school groups for guided visits.
“The Rural Model is primarily a showcase and a bridge that connects the rural reality, often invisible to the knowledge of the urban population, to the concepts of science, utility, and social well-being. The moment at Expofac clarifies to civil society all the advances of family farming in Pará, in the context of public policies and the historical presence of Emater,” points out the regional supervisor of Emater in Castanhal, Ricardo Freire, an environmental engineer with a postgraduate degree in Environmental Education.
