Public security in the Metropolitan Region of Belém will receive an important reinforcement starting this Tuesday (02). The Government of the State of Pará has incorporated an additional 40 vehicles to the fleet of Operation Police Stronger, increasing the number of vehicles used daily in ostensive policing from 131 to 171, complementing the ordinary patrols that already have another 150 vehicles in the neighborhoods of the capital and neighboring municipalities.

Governor Helder Barbalho emphasized that the reinforcement represents a significant advance in public security policy, bringing the actions of the Military Police closer to the population.

“We are increasing the presence of the police on the streets of the metropolitan region with Operation Police Stronger. Regularly there are 150 vehicles, with an additional 171 being added, we are now at 321 vehicles with police personnel. Our goal is to stay close to the people, spread across all neighborhoods, combating crime, ensuring peace for the population, and bringing the police closer to the citizens of our capital and metropolitan region,” emphasized the governor.

Reinforced security at strategic events

The investment is part of the State Government's planning to strengthen security during the months of September and October, a period marked by major popular mobilization events, such as the Week of the Fatherland and the Círio de Nazaré.

In addition to the increase in the fleet, the Strategic Base Points (PBEs) will also be repositioned in areas with higher traffic of people and vehicles. This measure aims to ensure greater visibility of police actions and a quicker response to occurrences, contributing to the safety of the population and the protection of public and private property.

Police present and integrated

According to the commander of the Military Police of Pará, Colonel Dilson Júnior, the operation will also involve military police officers on extraordinary duty, through the Operational Journey Complementary Gratification (GCJO), reinforcing the personnel on the streets of the capital and Metropolitan Region.

“The goal is to integrate efforts, apply modern technologies, and maintain an ostensive presence on the streets. We are prioritizing a quick response to the demands of the population, in a firm and present action,” stated the commander.

The operational model will be through the PBEs, with vehicles distributed strategically and teams composed of two to four police officers. The Community Police and Human Rights Directorate will also participate in the operation, reinforcing the philosophy of proximity and dialogue with the community.
