With support from the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), the city of Afuá, in the Marajó Archipelago, hosted this Saturday (30), the 4th edition of Forte Fight Naurú, considered the largest martial arts event in the region.

The tournament brought together 50 athletes in 25 fights, at the traditional Casarão da Barduca, featuring four modalities: jiu-jitsu (no-gi, gi, and submission), MMA, kickboxing, and boxing.

The event also promoted regional integration by receiving competitors from municipalities in Marajó — Anajás, Chaves, Portel, and Breves — and from Amapá, including Santana, Pedra Branca, and Macapá.

Among the highlights of the program were the Submission GP, with a title fight in the bantamweight category, as well as title fights in kickboxing (bantamweight), boxing (light middleweight), and the title defense in the featherweight category, which excited the audience present.

Present at the event, the Secretary of Sports and Leisure of Seel, Cássio Andrade, emphasized the importance of the initiative to strengthen sports practice in the interior of the State.

"Forte Fight Naurú is already a landmark in the sports calendar of Marajó, promoting inclusion, opportunities for local athletes, and integration with other States. The Government of Pará has this commitment: to support sports in all modalities, in all regions, so that our young people can pave paths to success both inside and outside the rings," highlighted the secretary.

The event organizer, Jonny Batista, highlighted the importance of the support from the Government of Pará, and the presence of the Seel secretary, Cássio Andrade. "I want to thank the support of the Government of the State of Pará, and Seel, on behalf of our secretary and friend Cássio Andrade, who when he met the people of our project, spared no effort to support us and invest so that this event can provide joy and leisure to the youth of Marajó. So, we can only thank the Government and the secretary," he stated.

The young winner of the 52kg title, Alessandro dos Santos, also known as Poatan, emphasized the achievement of the title and the support from the Government of Pará.

"I won the fifty-two title, it is very difficult to be here, a dream come true! I want to thank the support of the Government and Seel, as it is a great incentive for our social sports project, also for young athletes like me, who am now holding this title," he said.

Forte Fight Naurú consolidates Afuá as a reference in martial arts events in the North of the country and reinforces the role of the Government of Pará, through Seel, in valuing and promoting sports as an instrument of social transformation and cultural appreciation in Marajó.
