The Pará Hemotherapy and Hematology Center Foundation (Hemopa) held a blood donation campaign this Tuesday (26) in partnership with the nursing school of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) in the Guamá neighborhood of Belém. The action mobilized students, health professionals, and volunteers from the academic community and surrounding area, strengthening the importance of solidarity for maintaining the blood supply in the State.

With the aim of ensuring comfort and agility in service, the structure provided included a mobile unit, a specially set-up room for welcoming donors, and a trailer equipped for collection. The initiative reinforces Hemopa's commitment to bringing blood donation closer to communities, expanding access and facilitating the participation of new volunteers.

The partnership with the university also strengthens the practical learning of future health professionals, who were able to experience up close the importance of social mobilization for life. The integration between education and service expands the reach of the campaign and contributes to the civic formation of students.

According to Camila Medina, the social worker from Hemopa's Donor Recruitment Management (Gecad), the action at UFPA has a strategic role in bringing the community closer. "This campaign at UFPA aims to bring Hemopa even closer to the academic community, especially in the health area, to give more visibility to the importance of blood donation. We know that, despite hospital practices, many students still do not have a real perception of how this gesture is essential to save lives. Therefore, the idea is to establish a continuous partnership with the University, increasingly promoting blood donation not only among health students but also reaching other courses and even other educational institutions. Our desire is to strengthen this network of solidarity and engagement because donating blood is a simple act, but it makes all the difference," she emphasized.

Student Aline Raminho, a volunteer donor, emphasized the importance of mobilization within the university. "I see this campaign here at UFPA as a very special way to bring Hemopa closer to us, students and the community, and to show how important blood donation is. Often, even studying in the health field, we do not have a real sense of how much this simple gesture makes a difference. I believe that initiatives like this help awaken this awareness and create a continuous commitment, not only among health students but also in other courses and colleges. Donating blood is an act of solidarity that can save lives, and I feel happy to be part of this," she stated.

Hemopa reinforces that itinerant actions like this are fundamental to meet the transfusion demand of the hospital network, especially in periods of greater need. In addition to replenishing stocks, these initiatives have an educational role and encourage the culture of regular donation among young people and adults.
