The parking lot of the Olympic Stadium of Pará – Journalist Edgar Proença (Mangueirão) hosted a large running and fitness class on the night of this Tuesday (26), gathering over a thousand participants. The initiative was supported by the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), in partnership with the sports community.

Led by specialized teachers and trainers, the program promoted group training, physical preparation guidance, and dynamics focused on well-being, reinforcing the importance of sports practice as a tool for quality of life and social integration.

Mangueirão as a democratic space

According to the State Secretary of Sports and Leisure, Cássio Andrade, the activity strengthens the connection between the population and the stadium, which is consolidating as a multifunctional space.

“We are at Mangueirão, one of the largest and best stadiums in Brazil, which utilizes all its spaces throughout the year. This is yet another project from the Government of the State of Pará, with over a thousand students who engage in training and sports activities at night, in a wonderful community class. Come and participate in this great project that promotes health and encourages sports practice,” said the secretary.

Participants' experience

The class is part of a project that has been developed since February of this year, with meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 8 PM to 10 PM, in the parking lot of Mangueirão. Public servant Deyse Melo highlighted the positive experience of participating in the free activity.

“It has been a wonderful experience. I have been participating in street races for a year, but always in paid events. Here, besides being free, it is a safe space, with the support of teachers who motivate us and give us strength to complete the course. I am loving it!” she said.
