The Institute for Forest Development and Biodiversity of Pará (Ideflor-Bio), through the Eastern Marajó Regional Office, installed an Agroforestry System (SAF) in the São Marcos community, a rural area of the municipality of Salvaterra, in the Marajó Archipelago. The action was carried out in partnership with the State Technical School of Pará (EETEPA) in Salvaterra.

According to the manager of the Eastern Marajó Regional Office of Ideflor-Bio, Osiane Barbosa, the partnership with the learning space has been strengthening more and more, and other related actions are planned for the future. She also stated that the initiative was important for the application of the knowledge acquired by the students in the classroom.

“This action allowed the application of the environmental theories and practices that were taught in the classroom. The use of raw materials provided by Ideflor-Bio, along with the practical and technical knowledge passed on during the Environmental Technician course, were essential for organic fertilization and soil management,” she emphasized.

The professor of the Environmental Technical Course, José Guilherme, highlights that actions like this bring various benefits not only for the students but also for the community. “These actions, which integrate the Institute, EETEPA with the Community, promote socioeconomic, environmental, and social benefits, such as soil and landscape recovery, biodiversity promotion, increased food security, income generation, and strengthening of local communities,” he emphasized.

The educator also points out that the SAF installed in the rural community will bring various benefits to the population, such as economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Premises that also resemble the purposes of Ideflor-Bio.
