Emater holds cocoa formation pruning workshop to increase production in Rurópolis
The initiative aims to improve fruit productivity and generate income for farmers

The Government of Pará, through the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company (Emater-Pará), held a cocoa formation pruning workshop on Friday (22) in the municipality of Rurópolis, southwestern Pará.
The action took place in the Nova Aliança Community, located on the Baiano Road, at the "Zé do Arroz" site, and was supported by the Rurópolis City Hall. For the owner of the chosen area, the initiative provides an expansion of the production chain for him and other family farmers in the region.

“It is a great advancement for us. From now on, we will count on Emater's support in seed production, seedling planting, and with the entire production chain improving our income. This workshop taught us how to improve our production alongside bananas, which is our strong point,” said José de Amorim, a rural producer.
The partnership between the State Government and the municipality has been intensified with actions aimed at cocoa production, providing technical assistance to rural producers in the region and offering greater knowledge about improvements in the production of the product within the production chain.
“José, for example, already has a production of bananas and cassava, but now he is focusing on cocoa farming and wants to diversify production activities. He even has cocoa seeds, and it is very interesting on his part, the vision of expanding family farming, seeking a larger market, not just for himself, but for an entire region,” said Vanessa Feleol, supervisor of the Tapajós Regional at Emater-Pará.
