Launched by the State Secretariat of Culture (Secult) during the 28th Pan-Amazonian Book Fair and Multivoices, the book “Poesia Reunida” by Wanda Monteiro — honored in this edition of the fair — brings together old works and unpublished poems that reveal the Pará writer's relationship with rivers and nature. The work is available for purchase at the Secult booth, in the Hangar Convention & Fair Center of the Amazon, in Belém.

Wanda Monteiro has a solid career as a writer, having published essays, short stories, poems, and novels in books and the largest literary magazines in the country. In addition, she is a lawyer and researcher of her father's legacy, the iconic Benedito Monteiro. Born in Alenquer, in Western Pará, she carries her origins in all her works.

In the editing done by the Department of Editing and Memory (DEM) of Secult, the book “Poesia Reunida” contains a selection of texts from the books A Liturgia do Tempo and other Silences, Aquatempo, Chão de Exílio, and unpublished poems.

“All the texts have as their texture the thread of time-river and river-time. In this book, I plant my feet on the ground of a writing whose movement is governed by the flow of my inner river. In it, there is the voice of a woman who was born within the river, in the heart of the forest, whose worldview is rooted in the cosmogony of being an Amazonian who feels like a physical and organic part of the land and waters where she was born,” details Wanda.

In this work, and especially in this book, Wanda presents the power of sensitivity and the vocation for writing that she inherited from her father. “He spent his whole life telling all Pará people: please, get to know your State, know what the biomes are, the realities, the animals, the people. Know all the problems and all the riches. Know the place you step on so that you love the place you step on and to sustain the heavens. Because you only love what you know, and there will come a time when we will need to defend what we love,” highlights Benedito's daughter.

Releases – This year, in addition to Poesia Reunida, Secult also launched Mestre Damasceno and the Cantorias do Marajó, which tells the story of the also honored Mestre Damasceno. And, in tribute to the centenary of Benedicto Monteiro, celebrated in 2024, Secult relaunched one of his great successes, O Homem Rio: A Saga de Miguel dos Santos Prazeres, a true cultural record of the Amazon that addresses the theme comprehensively, integrating orality in a unique way.

The three books can be purchased at the Secult booth, located in the central part of the Hangar Event Pavilion. Wanda also participated in a book signing session on Saturday (16), at the Author's Point. The Fair runs until this Friday (22), always with an intense schedule from 9 am to 10 pm, which can be checked here.
