Sectet brings innovation and professional qualification to the 28th Pan-Amazonian Book and Multivoices Fair
The Secretariat presents sustainable, technological projects and show-classes in areas such as gastronomy, fashion, and robotics
The State Secretariat for Science, Technology and Higher, Professional and Technological Education (Sectet) participates in the 28th Pan-Amazonian Book and Multivoices Fair, which runs until August 22, at Hangar – Center for Conventions and Fairs of the Amazon, in Belém. In the secretariat's space, the public has access to initiatives that unite literature, sustainability, innovation, and culture, reinforcing the role of science and professional education in the largest literary event in the region.
At the Sectet booth, students from state technical schools present projects focused on reading, technology, and sustainability. Among the highlights is the production of eco-friendly soap developed by the State Technical School Juscelino Kubitscheck, in Marituba. Student Ana Caroline Paixão, from the Food Technical course, explained that the project relies on the donation of used cooking oil from local merchants, transformed into different types of soap, sold to the community. The income helps maintain the school's laboratories.
Another attraction is the Science and Technology Caravan, an itinerant project that travels to technical schools in the State and, during the Fair, invites the public to interact with experiments such as the Van de Graaff Generator, as well as programming, robotics, modeling, and 3D printing activities.
The big news this year is the holding of show-classes at the secretariat's booth. Instructors from the Peace Factories and invited guests address practical and creative topics in the areas of gastronomy, robotics, sewing, and fashion. Registrations are made on-site, 30 minutes before each activity, with the issuance of a participation certificate.
Among the attractions already held, a gastronomy class conducted by chefs and instructors from the Peace Factories, Thainá Damasceno and Pauliana Sousa, highlighted cuisine as a space for exchanging experiences and inspiration for new entrepreneurs. Pastry chef Juliana Borges, a participant in the activity, emphasized:
“I am an entrepreneur, and for me, it is gratifying to participate in the class, see the chef's work up close, and learn techniques that inspire and strengthen my business.”
The sewing and fashion coordinator of Sectet, Julie de Lima, emphasized that the show-classes bring the public closer to the reality of the courses. “In fashion, we show how creativity, technique, and literary inspiration come together to create original and sustainable pieces capable of generating income and strengthening local enterprises,” she stated.
Space for entrepreneurs
In addition to educational activities, the booth also opens space for entrepreneurs trained in Sectet courses. Among them is Elisa Lisboa, a member of the collective “Gastronomia Delas,” specialized in cocadas and jellies. “I took several courses at Usipaz Jurunas/Condor, and it is very gratifying to be able to showcase my products at the Book Fair,” she said.
Valuing science and culture
For the secretary of Sectet, Victor Dias, the presence at the Fair is strategic to bring science and technology closer to the population. “The 28th Pan-Amazonian Fair is a space to value our culture and encourage knowledge. Sectet participates by bringing science and technology to people, showing how professional education, combined with sustainability, transforms lives and expands opportunities. This year, we will go beyond the exhibition: we will bring experiences and sustainable practices to inspire each visitor,” he highlighted.
