On this Wednesday, the 20th, the Regional Hospital of Tapajós (HRT), in Itaituba, in the southwest of Pará, held a program in honor of August Lilac, a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness for the end of violence against women. The activity gathered female employees from different assistance areas, patient companions, and representatives from institutions linked to the protection network.

The program included the presence of the Women’s Delegate, Rânely Cruz, the municipal coordinator of Public Policies for Women, Antonieta Lima, as well as the Women’s Patrol unit of the Military Police, represented by Corporal Milena and Corporal Glauber. The coordination of the activities was carried out by the hospital's humanization analyst, Maria de Lurdes.

According to data from the hospital, which has a profile for high-risk trauma and obstetrics care, 77 cases of violence were reported in the first half of this year. Of these, 14 were cases of domestic violence against women: seven committed by partners (boyfriends or husbands) and another seven by family members or acquaintances, such as siblings, children, and friends.

For the Humanization analyst, Maria de Lurdes, the mobilization within the health unit was a moment of collective learning. “This program was designed to guide and support. When we talk about violence, we help break the silence and show that there is a support network ready to assist these women,” she emphasized.

Among the participants, the patient companion, Cancionila Cristina da Silva, reinforced the importance of the initiative. “It was very enlightening. Many times we know someone who is experiencing violence, but we don’t know how to help. Here I learned that reporting can save lives,” she stated.

Meanwhile, the Women’s Delegate, Rânely Cruz, reminded that awareness is essential to change reality. “We need to talk more and more about domestic violence. Information is the main tool for women to recognize situations of abuse and seek help,” she stressed.

The initiative reinforces the commitment of the Regional Hospital of Tapajós and the Government of Pará to promote humanization and violence prevention actions, contributing to the construction of an increasingly effective support network for women in the region.
