Guamá Residents Form First Works Monitoring Committee of Cosanpa
Group will monitor improvements being developed in the water supply system of the most populous neighborhood in the capital of Pará

After an assembly held on Tuesday (19), residents of the Guamá neighborhood in Belém defined who will be the members of the Works Monitoring Committee (CAO) of the Pará Sanitation Development Project (Prodesan Pará). Composed of seven residents, the Committee will represent the community in monitoring the progress of the works and in the relationship with the Pará Sanitation Company (Cosanpa), which is the executor of the Project.
The definition of the Committee representatives was made through an election among the residents who participated in the assembly and volunteered for the position. A resident of Guamá for over 20 years, Roselene Machado was one of those chosen for the Committee and spoke about the importance of community participation in the Project. “I have lived here for years and we have never had the opportunity to participate in a moment like this, which values the representation of residents and listens to what we want for the neighborhood. I hope to contribute in some way to the project and the improvement of the quality of life in Guamá.
Coordinator of Prodesan Pará, Tatiana Costa emphasized that the participation of residents will be fundamental in all the works planned in the Project. “This is the first Works Monitoring Committee of Prodesan. A milestone for Cosanpa and for the communities involved that will be heard through a direct communication channel with the Company,” said Tatiana.
In addition to Guamá, other water supply systems in Belém, Ananindeua, and Marituba will also receive interventions to expand the capacity to serve the population and improve infrastructure. For the system that serves the Guamá neighborhood, investments will be directed towards the construction of a new pumping station, supported and elevated reservoirs, an electrical substation, and the revitalization of the existing reservoir, with waterproofing, painting, and cleaning services.

The works will be carried out within the operational areas of Cosanpa and, after completion, the water storage capacity in the sector will increase by 70%, which will improve supply, especially in more distant points of the network, where the pressure is lower and supply is reduced.
