Breastfeeding and Combating Violence Against Women Highlighted at HRPM Event
The program aimed at users, companions, and professionals of the unit was in reference to the 'Golden August' and 'Lilac August' campaigns

The Regional Public Hospital of Marajó (HRPM), in the municipality of Breves, held a special program on Monday (18) in homage to "Golden August," a month dedicated to promoting breastfeeding, and Lilac August, a campaign to raise awareness about violence against women.
The activities took place in the Maternity Space and in the auditorium of the unit, bringing together users, companions, and professionals. The program included lectures, dynamics, giveaways, and breakfast, aiming to reinforce the theme of the World Breastfeeding Week 2025: "Let’s Prioritize Breastfeeding: Building Sustainable Support Systems."

"The event reinforced the importance of exclusive breastfeeding until 6 months of life, and also brought discussions about healthy eating during breastfeeding and awareness about the different forms of violence against women," said Rosângela Gonçalves, supervisor of the Continuing Education Center of the Hospital.

Learning - User Raquel de Santos Almeida, 24 years old, is expecting her second child and is undergoing prenatal care at HRPM. According to her, "Golden August" was an excellent opportunity to expand her knowledge about breastfeeding, as well as to receive guidance on the different forms of violence that affect women, within the "Lilac August" campaign.
"Here we have excellent professionals, as they always teach us important things. I am already in my second pregnancy and, even so, I learned new things. The Hospital has excellent professionals, and we keep learning new things," said Raquel.
