Women's totem helps victims of violence report their aggressors

Through a tool created by the State Government, it is possible to register occurrences, request assistance and protective measures, in addition to breaking the cycle of violence

Investment in tools to assist in reporting violence against women is one of the state government's initiatives to help women victims of domestic violence break the cycle of abuse, which is often silently and daily exposed in their routines. One of the ways found by the state, through public security, was the creation of a device entirely dedicated to women's assistance.

The women's totem is the first in the country to offer exclusive assistance to women in Pará when it comes to crimes and violence suffered by them. Through the equipment, directly linked to the Virtual Women's Police Station (Deam Virtual), it is possible to register occurrences related to domestic violence, receive assistance and guidance on the necessary procedures in such situations, as well as request protective measures. All to bring these women closer and encourage them to report their aggressors, as explained by the Secretary of Public Security of Pará, Ualame Machado.

“This is yet another service where women victims of domestic violence can access the Virtual Women's Police Station remotely, in two ways: First, through this totem, where women can go to specific service points, such as the Usinas da Paz and the Hospital da Mulher, which already have this equipment available to them. Through it, they will have the possibility to request assistance, either by phone or by filling out their occurrence, and even request a final protective measure without having to go to a police station. We understand that we need to be increasingly close to these women, to offer support and welcome, helping to encourage them to break the cycle of abuse and violence that they are often exposed to in their domestic life and that in some cases, when it comes to light, there is nothing more we can do,” said the head of Segup.

Self-service - The totem has help tools, such as in the case of registering an occurrence with a direct link to the Virtual Women's Police Station, as well as a chatbot, where the victim can contact the virtual attendant for clarifications, questions, and even assistance, and also a telephone center where she can speak directly with the attendant of the new channel 197, directed to women, with the aim of guiding her to specialized police stations for women victims of violence, and also, forwarding for protective measures and guidance on how to proceed in the face of a situation of violence.

Today the state has three women's totems installed, one at the Usinas da Paz in Terra-Firme and Icuí, in Belém, and another at the Usina da Paz in Castanhal. The first was installed at the Hospital da Mulher. By the end of 2025, it is expected that 11 new totems will be distributed at strategic points, totaling 15 devices in the state.

Reporting channels

Since 2019, Segup has prioritized women's access to reporting channels. The Disque Denúncia, channel 181, has been expanded and serves the entire state territory. It also features Rapid and Anonymous Artificial Intelligence, Iara, which receives reports via WhatsApp, where photos, videos, and real-time location can be sent. The virtual attendant can be reached at (91) 98115-9181. Confidentiality is guaranteed.

The state also has Specialized Police Stations for Women's Assistance, in addition to the Deam Virtual, and the Pró-Mulher Pará program, which can be activated through channel 190, of the Integrated Operations Center of Segup, Ciop.
