The Government of Pará, through the Economic Development Company (Codec), started on Thursday (14) an integrated plan to strengthen the productive base and increase competitiveness in Irituia, a municipality in northeastern Pará. The action involves institutional articulation, attracting investments, and generating jobs.

The first meeting, held online, marked the beginning of the partnership and defined the start of formalizing the commitment between Codec and the City Hall of Irituia. This step is essential to enable the next phases of planning, including the collection of socioeconomic data, the preparation of the Irituia Investor's Guide, and the assessment for the creation of an incentivized economic area.

Online meeting reinforces the partnership between State and Municipality

“Irituia has areas with underexplored potential, and our mineral production can advance into new segments, such as rare earths. Identifying and structuring these opportunities is essential to attract strategic investments,” highlighted Vice Mayor Gleice Antônio Almeida.

Challenges and proposals - The municipal secretary of Finance, Bento Vitório, reported that the formalization of companies is one of the main challenges, and emphasized the need for joint actions for guidance and training aimed at increasing the participation of entrepreneurs in bids and contracts with the City Hall itself. The municipality's attorney, Igor Oliveira Cotta, reinforced the importance of structuring productive chains, integrating family farming, and strengthening the Municipal Master Plan, taking advantage of Irituia's strategic location.

“The actions will be directed towards the economic potential of the municipality, and already established companies can act as drivers of supplier chains. A solid institutional arrangement, preferably with a Development Secretariat acting as a link between the Municipality and the State, will ensure security for long-term decisions,” stated the director of Investment Attraction and Business at Codec, Manoel Ibiapina.

The manager of Development and Economic Studies at the Company, Aline Tavares, reminded that the work is continuous, free, and personalized, and emphasized that the participation of different secretariats and the gathering of qualified data increase the effectiveness of the actions.

Also part of the Codec team in the meeting were the manager of Institutional Relations, Augusto César Anunciação; the manager of New Business Support, Sabrina Sena, and the manager of Commercial Promotion, Verônica Alice Rodrigues.

The proposed governance model ensures the continuity of actions, regardless of administrative changes, creating conditions for sustainable economic growth. The initiative strengthens Irituia's position as an attractive destination for new enterprises and increases job and income generation for the population.
