The Galileu State Public Hospital (HPEG), in Greater Belém, concluded, this Wednesday (13), the special Father's Day program, which started last week with actions aimed at patients and families. The initiative included moments of interaction, tributes, and the distribution of gifts, bringing affection to those who are far from home.

Hospitalized for 10 days after a motorcycle accident that resulted in a leg fracture, farmer Antônio Acácio Leite, 63, a resident of Garrafão do Norte, praised the care received and the attention from the team. "The care has been very good. I was happy with the tribute because even while hospitalized, I felt remembered and valued," he said.

Antônio's son, Manuel Silva Leite, 33, also a farmer, accompanies his father daily and approved the action. "It was very important to see my father receiving this affection. The team here treats everyone with respect and attention; there is humanization here," he stated.

The initiative also moved vendor Madson da Silva Miranda, 46, who has been hospitalized for 23 days after a motorcycle accident. "Spending Father's Day away from home is difficult, but here I was welcomed. It was a simple tribute, but it makes a difference," he highlighted.

For the family, the gesture also had special significance. Andreza Miranda, 28, self-employed and Madson's daughter, accompanied her father during the program and was moved. "Seeing my father receiving care and attention during such a delicate time is important for us. The team has been humane and dedicated, which makes the hospitalization lighter," she emphasized.

Humanization and volunteering - At Galileu, the humanization of care goes beyond medical treatment. The unit has a network of volunteers who, with dedication and sensitivity, help transform the daily lives of patients and families. These are people who dedicate time and talent to develop projects and actions that bring welcome, hope, and affection to those facing the challenge of being away from home.

For Anny Segóvia, coordinator of Humanization at HPEG, the conclusion of the Father's Day program is a clear example of how volunteer work strengthens the bond between patients, families, and the healthcare team. "These moments provide emotional comfort and help in the recovery process. We concluded the program only today because we seek to care for everyone with affection, without haste, valuing each patient. Moreover, Father's Day, celebrated last Sunday, deserves to be remembered throughout the entire week," she emphasized.

The executive director of HPEG, Cledes Silva, reinforced the importance of actions like this for the hospital environment. "Moments like this show that care is not limited to clinical treatment. It also involves empathy, listening, and attention to the emotional needs of each patient. This is our commitment: to provide excellent care, with technique and, above all, with humanity," he stated.

Reference in orthopedics - Recognized as a reference in orthopedics in Pará, the Galileu Hospital managed by the Institute of Social and Environmental Health of the Amazon (ISSAA), in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), specializes in medium and high complexity orthopedic care, including arthroscopies, reconstructions, and bone elongations, as well as other specialized interventions that favor the rehabilitation and functional recovery of patients — reinforcing its strategic role in the hospital network of the region.

The Galileu State Public Hospital has 104 inpatient beds and offers specialized services, including urological care, which includes treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia, renal exclusion, and prostate biopsy screening.
