CIIR celebrates National Arts Day with special programming for users and companions
Activities reinforce the importance of artistic expressions in the process of social inclusion and rehabilitation
On Tuesday, August 12, the Integrated Center for Inclusion and Rehabilitation (CIIR), in Belém, celebrated National Arts Day with a diverse program open to users and companions. Promoted by the Arts and Culture sector, the initiative included an open theater class, a toy workshop, an exhibition of musical instruments, a musical game, and a dance class.
According to the sector supervisor, Denise Morais, the date is an opportunity to celebrate the diversity of artistic expressions in Brazil and recognize their role as an essential resource to stimulate creativity, self-esteem, and social interaction.
Theater teacher Paula Barros highlighted that, at CIIR, artistic practice goes beyond technique, serving as a bridge for social inclusion. “Each exercise and each performance are adapted to the needs of the audience, creating a safe environment for expression and learning,” she stated. She added that celebrating artistic languages in a health space for people with disabilities highlights the inclusive nature of art, which values diversity, promotes health, and develops the individual in an integrated manner.
For housewife Margarete Modesto, mother and companion of Felipe, a user served by the Autism Spectrum Disorder Care Center (Natea), the artistic workshops offered by CIIR have a direct impact on quality of life. She shared that mother and son participate in the first cycle of the Dance Workshop and have already experienced other activities such as theater, music, and visual arts. “My son's mental health and mine have improved a lot. It is a benefit that does us a lot of good, and for which I am very grateful,” she affirmed.
Importance – Established in 1978, National Arts Day was created to recognize and value the role of artists and different cultural manifestations in the country. In the health environment, actions like those of CIIR reinforce the power of art as an ally in rehabilitation, expanding the possibilities of communication, socialization, and well-being through different artistic languages, aligned with the National Humanization Policy (PNH), which guarantees the right to access art and culture.
