The assembly of the structure for the 28th Pan-Amazonian Book and Multivoices Fair has already begun. On the morning of this Tuesday (12), the first booths started to take shape at the Hangar Convention Center of the Amazon in Belém. By Friday (15), booths, special projects, walkways, visual communication, food areas, and all the infrastructure that makes up the event will be set up.

According to Dilson Curvello, operational manager of RPS Eventos — the company responsible for setting up the booth area and representing the National Association of Bookstores (ANL) — the team will work daily, including night shifts, until Friday (15), to ensure everything is ready for the official opening of the Fair on Saturday (16).

“The Fair is a grand event — the largest literary fair in the North region — and we are working daily over these four days to ensure everything is ready for the opening on Saturday at 9 AM. The entry of books by exhibitors begins on Thursday (14) at 4 PM and will continue until Friday at midnight,” details Curvello, who is overseeing the assembly at the Hangar.

The Fair is expected to generate R$ 12 million in business over seven days

Organized by the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Culture (Secult), the 28th Pan-Amazonian Book and Multivoices Fair will take place from August 16 to 22, with free entry every day from 9 AM to 10 PM, with public access until 9 PM at the Hangar. The honorees for this edition are Wanda Monteiro and Master Damasceno.

The estimate is to generate around R$ 12 million in business and book sales. The event is expected to create more than 2,000 direct and indirect jobs during the assembly, execution, and disassembly period. The total area of the fair is 10,000 square meters, 100% air-conditioned, occupying Hangar 1 (Event Pavilion) and Hangar 2 (Hall B and Food Court).

This edition will feature 189 book booths, which will occupy the entire Event Pavilion, in addition to nine food booths. The event will bring together around 400 publishers, either directly or through representation. There will be 120 companies, including 32 publishers, 40 bookstores, and 48 distributors — 70 of them from Pará. The estimate is for 90,000 titles available, potentially reaching 200 tons of books.

This edition reiterates the commitment to sustainability

One of the highlights of this edition is the scenography, designed based on the principle of sustainability. Rodolfo Castro, project director of Secult, reveals that all the scenography of the Fair will reference the regions of the honorees — the Lower Amazon (the region where Wanda was born, native of Alenquer) and Marajó (in reference to Soure, where Damasceno was born, specifically in the community of Salvá).

“We will blend these references with elements that refer to the identity and regions of our honorees, using sustainable and repurposed materials, such as IBC containers. They will be illuminated with LED and will bring this blend of urbanity and ancestry. Additionally, we are prioritizing the use of mesh instead of tarps throughout the scenography,” Castro explains.

This year, the Multivoices Arena, a well-established space of the Fair, will operate in Hall B of the Hangar. The Arena will host the entire cultural program over the seven days of the event, featuring presentations of projects from public school networks in the metropolitan region of Belém in the morning, and discussion panels, presentations, and shows in the afternoon and evening.
